I teach (taught) at a fairly upper middle class suburban middle school in Kansas.

Also there are so many things wrong with this story from a teaching perspective I'm not in the least surprised. The Kirk worshippers are for sure out in force, but this story crosses so many lines--only considering what details are shared, who knows what is omitted--and demonstrates this poster's clear ignorance as a teacher to the point that I feel like the outcome was inevitable.

There are actual rules about this kind of engagement with kids in the school environment. Unsurprisingly, of course, this poster gives the barest lip service to that just to say that they acknowledged it, but they are very clearly and obviously flouting these rules and there is no way they can argue that they aren't. On the most fundamental level, in many places it is the literal job of school counselors to come into the classroom and give exactly these kind of whole-class interventions when there is a broad problem...but I'm sure this goofball already knows that.

If you're such a smol bean and totally helpless and innocent, why not appeal? You simply couldn't lose once your story is out there
