Hell, the only reason I get to play this at launch is because I have an active Game Pass subscription that isn't running out for another year. I'm not buying an actual copy of this to own until used copies for PS5 hit shelves, and this is literally one of my favorite franchises in gaming and one of my most anticipated games in a decade.

For some reason they don't even have voice acting despite including fully animated cutscenes. They're cutting corners everywhere as if they fear any second that this time their game will bomb

First, that is the exact same footage that was used on local news broadcasts this weekend. I know this because I live in New England, whereas you live in Canada.

Second, do you see the bottom of that MSNBC footage where it says 'Velshi?' That's the name of the news program.

Velshi premiered in February 2020.

It is literally impossible for that clip to be from 2017 because the program that the clip is from didn't exist until 2020.

voice actors are paid in what's called PFH, Per Finished Hour, in other words when all your voice acting is done you've got an hour of fully edited, ready-to-use content, that's what you get paid for

if you're shitty and it takes you 30 takes and 30 hours to get through everything, that's your own problem, you get paid for that single best take and the one hour of good content you produced

and the rate is like $50-$100 for an inexperienced actor and $200-$400 for a really good voice actor

a youtube video of all of MGS1's codec calls, the vast majority of dialogue in one of the well-known dialogue heavy games, is 4 hours long, so that's $1600 if it was one voice actor, in reality they probably each got a minimum payment
