Only anecdotal, but I know we love family night movies and akward ass sex scenes always make them awkward for our teenager. I 'm trying to remember the last one where when the baging was done he said, "what was the point of that?"

and I was kinda joking about the hentai but if their reasoning is genuinely "I can look at porn anytime so I don't need to see sex in my fictional media" then their view of what normal sex is like is possibly super distorted (as we all know, porn doesn't exactly depict "normal" intimacy) and exposure to well-written and directed intimacy may be a positive influence

I'm a queer non-cis woman and I'd argue I want to see more sexuality then sex scenes. I want more representation of of LGBTQ+ characters in fiction and when it comes to wlw rep, I want more lesbians and wlw women in fiction and to be able to be open about their sexuality, be in relationship without constantly having to worry or know one will be killed off or some over tragedy happen (something animation is often better at then live action in the west) and to show the issues and wonders about wlw love. Hell even on ERA I've pushed for wanting a sexy wlw fighting game made and designed for lesbians and wlw.

I'm honestly less interested in wlw sex scenes, especially made by non-WLW or LGBTQ+ creatives because I simply don't trust them to be exploitative and bad experience with fiction treating wlw being intimate = death sentence; and to this day how often it feels wlw sex scenes are included because "Lesbians are hot" to men. It's a vastly different situation and ballpark for me when it is wlw creatives involved telling the stories that matter to them and I'm well aware the actresses involved are okay and happy with it.

It's the same with me when it comes to the death of wlw and lesbians in fiction, I'm so sick of the bury your gays trope and just how obvious it is so often, I'm sick of constantly having to worry when I see same-sex couples because of how so often writers will use them for shock deaths or drama, that same-sex relationship can never just be happy or long lasting. However it's different if it's a LGBTQ+ person doing it, telling the stories and experiences that matter to them, them dealing with their own trauma, experiences and want to tell the stories they want to.

Again, I'm not saying sex scenes shouldn't be in fiction, they can't be done right or can't be wholesome, they can be; hell that isn't what Gen Z are saying either from the article.

But that still leads to the issue of the pressure on women to be expected to be nude, especially more so then men, especially on younger actress who have less power and control. if an actresses doesn't want to appear nude or in sex scene, that shouldn't hurt their career or make them lose out on opportunities or treated as less of an actress.

I think this is the part people are missing when Gen Z mean by less sex, they want relationship that don't automatically mean romance, a woman being nice to a man shouldn't instantly mean she wants to be romantically involved. I think that's a good thing, I think it would be healthy for men to be shown that can have good long lasting friendships with women without expectations of sex or romance, that friendships

I assumed "Performative Male" was an evolution of "Nice Guys" or "PickMe Boys", guys who pretend to be progressive or friendly have ulterior motives of relationships or sex.

It sounds like this is an evolution of the "Fellas, is it gay to love your wife?" trend, where guys are called gay for doing literally anything. And that's bad because gay guys are feminine, which is bad because misogyny.

In 2015 I remember learning about a lot of social justice topics, and figured by 2025 the world would be a lot more progressive. Dear god, was I wrong.

She compares it to people trying to punch down on women for being "basic" for liking certain things, which has now transformed into mocking men for liking things that are considered feminine. Basically another way for people online to call things "gay".

Don't worry, men, now you can just claim you aren't a male and they're stunlocked into having to like your awful personality.

That aspect is also covered.
