Gene Park is one of those guys who seems to be friends with racists and fascists, in a manner that reminds of Ezra Klein or Boogie2988 where he does a respectability politics of at least he can have a conversation with such types and isn't that just fantastic, and he thinks it's his job as an advocate to educate such people. He worked with Colin Moriarty (had a show of his own at Last Stand Media) and talked about his reasons to work there on Era and got defensive about Colin in regards to anti-Asian racism (keep reading more of the thread), and is friends with him, attended his wedding, etc. He had an odd review/defense of Stellar Blade as if it represented Korean beauty, and he responded to criticism about his piece on Era. I used to appreciate his journalism until a few years ago with the Colin Moriarty stuff, so it's a shame to see him in chud circles again.

I remember as a kid I had WWE Day of Reckoning on the GameCube. When you created a character for the story in that game, where you are supposed to name your character it already said "Default" where the name was, naturally you are supposed to replace that with the name you wanted. I did not know what the word "Default" meant when i was a kid, so i thought that was the default name (lol) kind of like how in Final Fantasy 7 on PS1 it gave you the option to change Cloud's name in the beginning from Cloud to whatever you wanted. I thought the name "Deefault" sounded badass so I kept it as that, i also did not know the proper pronunciation of the word default so I was thinking the characters Canon name was "Deefault". I played the whole game like that. One day I had a friend of mine visited me and I was playing the game with him, he was like "why is your characters name Default", and i was like "thats the name your character has automatically", and my friend had to explain to me what the word "Default" meant and then I realized I was an idiot.

Another example of this from earlier in my life is the word "Item", I rarely hear the word "Item" outside of video games, my first encounter with that word was with Pokémon Gold Version as a kid, that was my first Pokémon game and I was in elementary school, I had never encountered the word "item" before so of course I pronounced it wrong, i thought it was pronounced "Iteems" and produced it like that until the Ruby/Sapphire generation when my cousin heard me say it and told me how to actually say that word. I figured out the general meaning of the word once it become obvious the Item tab on the menu was where all my stuff is at.

Lots of other examples in my life growing up.

I just feel like certain words in the English arent ever used in conversations or even in texts books but appear relatively often in Video Games. If not for Video Games I feel my vocabulary would be drastically smaller.

DEI or affirmative action or whatever you want to call it is absolutely agenda-based in that it's meant to ameliorate historic imbalances, which is a cool agenda that we should all support. It isn't in opposition to quality since it provides wider perspectives that lend more insight that can improve quality.

The game had a great start but the devs did nothing for years despite players begging for more content or at least a proper end game. People got tired of the bullshit and moved on. It was pretty much dead until the console release brought in new players but the end game was still poor and the numbers went down again. Amazon closing it down is the least surprising move.

I think we need to remember that the vast majority of streamers are just regular everyday people that aren't pieces of shit. You only ever hear about the biggest ones because they are the most popular and get the most exposure.
