Part of why the fanservice is so disdainful is because it's incredibly generic (look at the common complaint irt MHY games as a whole but on the majority of other competing gacha games and in how the characters are borderline interchangeable, skinny pale-skinned girls) and because often the women / girls will be dressed in ways that make no sense, either for their character or their environment or both, for the express purpose of being sexual fanservice.

Watched his videos when the channel was first created, subbed for a long time, I unsubbed sometime during 2021, something in a video really rubbed me the wrong way and I stopped watching. Every once in a while he'd pop up in my recommended with a video and I was like "oh I'm interested in this" and then it'd be weird, or push to his patreon, or mention that his channel is dropping in views.

I'm not shocked by this, so now I'll fully just block the account from my youtube, he can get fucked.

I do not know how these people have no realization that every piece of media they have ever consumed from the dawn of time was written with purpose and agenda. They yell about diversity and inclusion agendas without realizing every cartoon they watched as kid, that they swear they love, was usually about trying to be a decent human being. It is like they play a Zelda game and don't see the basic concept of being a hero beat over their head. I get not wanting to think all the time in the media you consume. But some of these people, I swear, they don't see anything beyond flashing lights on a screen in front of them. So when something stops to point out a new thought for them they can't handle it.

And the apology is weak. He had no idea what any of this stuff meant...But went into great detail about it and provided links. People here reading this that have just had kids, or are about to, or in a stage of maybe planning to...it's just constant doom of "in 20 years the world is gonna be Mad Max, you are dooming your own kids" type of stuff. Do we need to put people going through whatever they are to come here and read the bleakest, most nihilist shit?

If someone already had kids - not my problem. Should've thought more about it before deciding to. I've never once heard a person that chooses to have kids mention how the kid will enjoy their life as the reason for having kids. Its always about the parents feeling a sense of fulfillment and joy at seeing their kid grow up. Maybe y'all should be thinking about how the kid will feel about it.

I never said it would be better in a previous time. It wouldn't have been a good time to have kids then either. The only timeline I would think it's moral to have kids in is one where people of all walks of life are supported (which has never happened), and community exists (which used to be the case, but is no longer)

The way of life we're used to now has existed for a fraction of humanity's existence. Children will grow up as they always have, suffer, experience joy, love and then make way for the next generation. No, it probably won't be the as privileged life that most people in this thread have had but we are goddamned fortunate we were born in this era.



Life goes on as it always has. Do the best you can to make it better for yourself and the people you love.

In the modern world, it's "embarrassing" for most people to dance. Only one example, but I don't think that being born in an era where we are denied our base caveman needs is "goddamned fortunate". In remote tribes they don't have a concept of "can dance well" or "can sing well" - everyone in the tribe just sings and dances every night because it's fun. I can't think of a place I can go in my city to have fun without spending money and/or being shamed for enjoying myself.

This is a thread born from a rough couple of days and fragile mental state, just as a heads up.

I've been thinking more and more of how in my 32 years of life, I don't think there was ever a point in time where I felt happy. Obviously I have felt the emotion of "happiness" before, you know, the feeling of excitement and energy accompanied with, say, getting a good grade on a exam or hanging out and having fun with friends. But in terms of being in a general state of happiness about life, no, I don't think I ever did.

I don't think there was ever a period of time in my life were I could say I enjoyed living life. It's always been from a perspective of survival for me - "making it through the day" or getting through a stressful event and not fucking up something as bad as I thought I would. Laying down in bed at the end of the day and reviewing in my mind how well or unwell the previous day went, and never looking forward to the next or just being content with the general state of everything in my life. Days are just an obstacle to overcome.

A large part of this I'm sure has to do with having Crohn's Disease for over half of my years thus far. Life tends to just boil down to making through the minute by minute ordeals when you have such an illness. The other end is having what seems like a default state of chronic depression. I've suicide ideated since I was about 15 and on a fairly consistent basis up through today. Twice the ideation led to an actual attempt, but mostly it's just an ever present background thought that the choice is always there for me if things ever get that bad. Almost like a grotesque comfort for me that I could easily end it all if it ever gets that bad. I've gaslit myself into thinking it's a totally normal thought to have, and it wasn't until an actual attempt materialized out of it that I realize that, no, it's fucked up.

There's no singular point I'm trying to reach here with this thread. It's a little rambling word vomit I feel like getting off my chest in this vulnerable state I'm in right now. Maybe someone here can commiserate, but otherwise I'm just getting these thoughts written down to help piece together my own messed up thoughts of my sad and broken brain.

Also can a mod make this members only? I don't know how to do that.
