Since you asked, I'll risk it....

I feel exactly like EternalSunshine does here, like nearly 100% in agreement. Like him I'm a long term TSLA shareholder, bought my last share back in 2019, before Elon went crazy. I've owned my Model Y for four years now, its the best car I've ever owned. I also have three friends who work at Tesla, its one reason why I invested in the company so many years ago. I also worked as an engineer in the auto industry for most of my life. And yes, I voted for the new comp plan. Like Eternal I do not agree with everything Elon says or does, to be honest I wish Elon would keep his mouth shut and mind his own business. He's hurt the Tesla brand pretty harshly, there's no denying that. He's also done a lot to hurt others too, that's just the reality. No I don't think Elon is a Nazi but as a lifelong Democrat I do agree his politics are very crappy.

However, as a shareholder and someone who loves the Tesla brand even while not liking Elon very much, and solely from the viewpoint of a shareholder, the new comp plan is very appealing. Elon only gets paid if TSLA goes up. If Elon slacks off he gets nothing. And lets be honest, the higher tiers of the plan, the ones which get Elon his $1 trillion in stock options, those goals are pretty ludicrous and very unlikely to ever be hit. I think Elon has a good chance to get 6 out of the 12 tiers, half of the plan, by 2035. But even if he only hits half the goals shareholders still make money.

Like EternalSunshine I keep my emotions out of my investing. I base investing on forecasting and fundamentals, not the CEO's personal issues. I don't invest for moral reasons, I do so to provide for my family and retirement. I think Tesla is a great company which makes great products, and I think both Robotaxi and Optimus will be hugely successful products which will make lots of revenues. Not everyone agrees with that and that's fine. Many people hate Tesla simply because its tied to Elon and I can understand that, he's very problematic (understatement?), but he also gets the impossible done more often than not. Usually very late, but done nonetheless.

Most Era members aren't going to agree with myself or EternalSunshine on this, and that's okay, but I wish those who disagree with us could at least be civil and respect our differences. I usually stay out of Tesla threads on Era because it inevitably devolves into people calling me nasty names for disagreeing with them. But Chairmanchuck (另一个我) asked and tagged me so I figured I'd give this a chance. We'll see how this goes, if it devolves into name calling I'll just bow out and let the hate parade keep rolling as I don't want to get banned again for thinking differently. 😒

I think it's just frustrating for our job to be treated like a nuisance inside of the industry (your mileage may vary), and like you don't do anything or very little outside of it by gamers.

Gamers do not see games before release, you'd be surprised how much QA finds, handles and improve games before they come out.

QA and debugging matters just as much so it's not "only" QA. These are still game devs contributing to the final product and the work they put in helps them earn a living. We have got to learn to stop being so callous towards them. Why are we handwaving excuses for layoffs?

There's probably a whole host of reasons why Dems lost. The only thing really certain is that, just by the math of the FPTP and the two-party system, as well as the fact that both parties are capitalist, you're always going to have this kind of flip-flopping just as a statistical inevitability, particularly in a populous that's as undereducated as America's.

She's so brilliant and wise.  A plurality wins the seat so statistically one group wins and then another group wins.  Plurality rules produce alternating pluralities.  Nepenthe, i know everyone quotes your posts and tells you how brilliant you are, but it's not enough.  You're a Real Woman of Genius.   No wonder she is so much more educated than the rest of these slovenly, uneducated Americans.
