Look I get the hatred and negativity towards generative AI art, but good lord so many of the Anti-AI people can be so fucking annoying and irrationally stupid. Especially Era.

eventually every game is going to be using AI somehow, including small indies using it to punch above their weight and produce games that approach AAA quality, don't we support them taking down those mega corpo bastards?

so there are two possibilities:

- more and more games use AI and eurogamer quietly seethes but can't afford to keep shitting on every single game that comes out, AI eventually becoming totally normal, leaving us with this one stupid blemish of a review, "remember that time we were anti AI activists? how embarrassing"

- they commit to the bit and eventually all games released score a 2 out of 5, and they continue devoting half of every review to why AI is evil, and they become even less relevant than they already are

It also seems ignorant of the realities of development. The Arc Raider devs aren't a huge studio and no one knew if the game would even be a success. A live service game is a pretty daunting affair that lots of developers have been burned on. Being able to release new items and maps without having to schedule new studio sessions etc. is probably a big relief for a smaller developer. And from what I heard those are the only areas where they use AI voices. 
Personally I'd prefer it if all voice lines were fully acted but at the same time this is something more feasible for a huge developer like Bungie than a small studio, at some point you have to realistic

Most people won't just blindly follow whatever their boss asks them to do regardless of anything else. It's perfectly normal and acceptable for employees who aren't being paid a living wage to skirt some of their responsibilities. In this specific example, putting on a friendly face to those who are often openly hostile towards you when you're working full time but still living paycheck to paycheck is not a reasonable expectation for everyone

That is most certainly any workers prerogative, to determine what they are comfortable with, but if the basic premise of the job is "be friendly and helpful to customers" I don't really know what wiggle room is expected in skirting those responsibilities.
