I always figured their obsession with voice actors was an 'I can make it too' cope of some kind. It's also one of the few areas of games they've been able to directly police and dictate who can and cant get jobs.

One of the best GAF threads involved the developers of Skullgirls (I think) sharing how much it'd cost them to add another character like people wanted or something. Thread had a bunch of people who thought this cost was absurd and talking about how the games art wasn't that advanced then drawing a single frame of a character to show they could do it. It peaked when somebody said they could just hang up some sheets and record the voice stuff in their bedroom.

Hey all, I know many of you have let your social media presence lapse over the years. In the last year I've made some rather huge life changing decisions. Early this year I left my career of 17 years (ministry) and have stepped away from religion as much as one can after having been immersed in it for almost 2 decades.



At 3 AM election night last year I "deactivated" all of my Meta social media (deleted Twitter when Musk bought it in 2022). I reactivated them in February to announce to friends and family my career change and because I desperately needed to network for a new job. At first is was just to have a small presence, but I slowly started using them again regularly, posting about things to make it clear where I stood on important issues. I wanted to make sure I wasn't being complicit in my silence, especially by my association in conservative religious spaces.



I "deactivated" again after the Charlie Kirk shit, because people I knew locally were losing their jobs just by simply quoting the heinous shit he said. Then, while tempted to make another post addressing the insanity of everything a few weeks later, I showed my wife what I wanted to post and I could tell it made her really nervous. Not because she didn't agree, but because she was worried about me losing my job. So

I downloaded my archives and deleted my accounts.



Well, deleting is a 30 day waiting period, and I've always enjoyed my connections on social media, I've enjoyed staying in the know in the lives of people I care about but no longer live near or have much depth of relationship to. Toxic as I believe social media to be, and as much as I can't stand what Meta is and how Zuckerberg is, I'm struggling to just let go of all of it for good. Whatever voice I had in ministry, any influence I had in those spaces, is gone tomorrow. It's been nice not opening those apps and doomscrolling, but I find myself just doomscrolling elsewhere.



So, I suppose what I'm looking for is that last push to do it or just set my accounts back to deactivated status. I don't want my silence to be complicit with fascism and everything else harming people around me. In my new career space I've thrived in building new relationships and meeting a ton of new people from so many different walks of life (diversity not present in my previous career).



This could also just be a broader discussion of how we use our voices this current environment, with or without these communi
cation tools.
