Until you articulate what your complaint is nobody can create a competitor that addresses it. "Twitter but a different owner" is not enough to convince people to switch from a thriving network to a new one.

The Twitter they thought they've lost never existed. Chuds were never mass banned, there was an entire thriving chud ecosystem. All that's changed is the existing bureaucratic protection racket for Blue Checks was overthrown.

And they know this which is why they spent all the time they now glorify as the lost golden age complaining that Twitter was overrun with fascists, transphobes, etc. How Twitter did nothing about all the endless hate speech and trolling by people having different opinions. How Twitter coddled Republican politicians. How Twitter was covered in Russian bots and Russian disinformation.

Elon tore down the established caste and replaced it with an $8 meritocracy of idiots and they'll never forgive that. Even if they weren't part of the caste themselves. That's why they had to insist the walls were closing in and the site would go down any day now. How everything was a defeat at the same time it was a mass fascist take over stealing our society. How it was and is remains a hellscape but they have to stay on it and post endlessly just to survive. They had elevated it purely in their minds and their cliques as some kind of elite status, they were part of the 1% after all so the distribution was finally perfect and as it should be, the philosopher kings ruled. Then Elon levelled it, democratized it. The mob was allowed in the palace. So clearly collapse has to follow.

Except none of this is true, it's the self-justification of an obsession with what is, in the end, just a very large forum. The scope of Twitter, millions of messages a second by tens of millions of people, inherently puts a lie to the construction of any singular narrative.

As someone that browses twitter pretty much daily, the general consensus by users unafflicted by severe EDS is that while there's still a lot of problems, particularly in regards to shadowbanning and similar, it's been a far better platform under Elon.  The fact that it's persisting existence under Elon gets a subset of people into frequent retard-rages is pretty much icing on the cake.

Blue Checks and verification system seems to be still a huge one and many still vocal about that one.  Not entirely in the technical side, but seems a pretty consistent one in (ironically) both Pre and Post Musk Twitter.

Also, personally, is kind of painful to use Twitter without log in and even I can see that Twitter sometimes it outright doesn’t work in certain days. I want to see someone tweets, like I was used to, without login in because I like to freely browse for information, something that Musk, self declared champion of free speech (when doesn’t embarrass him or affects his bottom line) seem unable to deliver because bots or servers going down or whatever.

Already stopped using Twitter years ago because a combination of personal reasons and how they fucked up timelines, so is not because big bad Elon Musk has a very public middle life crisis. But I still think that I have the right to ask: “Why Twitter feels worse than a decade ago?”.

I have a lot of privilege and I have some perceived wealth in that I have been making it paying a mortgage on a townhome in a high COL area, but the reality is that I’m a student (which doesn’t pay lavishly) and my partner is a public service worker and shit has gotten REALLY expensive in the US especially the west coast but actually everywhere. Gas at $6 a gallon here, eggs were like $5-7 starting last year lol, I go to the grocery store for bread, milk, eggs, cereal and bananas and end up leaving having spent over $50 what the actual fuck. I signed up to lurk, and it does seem to push the blue check users on the for you page. Don’t know about political leanings or any of that. But their posts are about as lame as you’d expect.
