Yeah, I'm starting to feel really isolated because social media is a nightmare as a whole and the ones I dabble in are becoming toxic and uncomfortable, and obviously I stay away from others.



It sucks because I don't want want to contribute to the toxicity that has become rampant, and I do not want to give my data and interactions to MAGA billionaires for many of those sites, but then I end up isolating myself like the guy who lives off the grid because he hates the government.



And that starts to affect my mental health too.

After two weeks of agonizing pain, I finally went to my PCP, who directed me to a proctologist who confirmed I have a couple small anal fissures. They give you an ointment and instruct you to take sitz baths and eat more fiber/drink more water. That's it.



Go online and, yep, that's the recommendation. Luckily, the meds have a ~90% success rate for most acute cases, but only after EIGHT WEEKS. So, surely, that can't be right. Nope, it is - plenty of empathy on Reddit and elsewhere that "yeah, this sucks ass, but you just have to wait it out."



Folks, I've had debilitating headaches. Gout. Pleurisy. I've had two herniated discs and was basically paralyzed for a week. I literally cut off a chunk of my thumb in college and stitched it myself since I couldn't afford an ER visit. 



None of it - none of it - comes close to the pain of these fissures. Every BM triggers 6-12 hours of muscle spasms that make it unbearable to sit, uncomfortable to lay, and impossible to be comfortable. Every BM feels like literal shards of glass coming out. I've spent the last two weeks trying to find the perfect balance of food, fiber, metamucil, miralax, water, and exercise to get a soft consistency and down to just one a day.



I can think about literally nothing else. I took Friday off to play MP4 and played for... 60 minutes. I literally just *stood* in pain for 10 hours instead.

Outside of some ancient carols done in a very traditional/classical style, Christmas music is pure torture. That's the word I'd use rather than "cringe".
