Developer has a ‘Very Positive’ score with recent reviews being “Overwhelmingly Positive” on Steam. Two troll reviews are posted as negative. Dev flips out and demands they be deleted. Steam say, “no, they bought it, let the community deal with it”. Developer further flips out and starts posting on Bluesky (really?) that Steam is a hotbed of bigots.

But don’t call the left snowflakes! 

For fucks sake, your game has 922 positive reviews against 26 negative ones. Yet instead of basking in the praise, you signal boost two bullshit negative reviews where negative ones are not even 3% of your total reviews? This is some brain rot stupidity right here. Instead of just letting those two be smothered into obscurity, “I must fight for justice!”! The only thing this will do is hurt by dragging defenders and culture warriors into the mix. I think it's completely valid as I'm sure they'd allow reviews saying things like "this game is bait and switch propaganda, toward the end the main character converts to christianity and turns toward the camera and encourages the player to do the same and I don't like that"

religion is a choice, skin color is not, so perhaps "too many black people" would be grounds for removal, though I think "too much emphasis on diversity" would be a valid wording

but also could you give a game a POSITIVE review because you like that it contains a lot of black people, or a lot of muslims? or that you love that it's a game with lots of white people in it...?

The thing I've learned is that pointing out a potential double standard or slippery slope is pointless. People on resetera would actually want that double standard. That Valve would also allow a negative review that says "too many christians" doesn't matter to them

I think is valid when you leave a review with less than two or three sentences. While the second attempt was more venomous and laughable, was still more than the first review. 

I get the frustration of having something flamed because stupid shit, but also the need to not encourage it. Let the dude bury himself on his own if he goes beyond “lol it sucks”.

Speaking entirely for myself, I was able to make a trans female V that I thought was good representation for me. And I preferred the Femme-V voice anyway, though it's a delicate issue for many trans people. I also thought the trans characters in the game were treat well. But opinions do differ.

Now if a non-protected, cis user said this, they’d be brigaded by the discord tr00n squad and perma’d for dismissive commentary.

I boycotted CP initially despite having played all 3 Witcher games because of the transphobic marketing campaigns CDPR were running up until launch. The terrible launch put it out of my mind but I've been intrigued every now and then in the years since, but have they really made any sort of 'improvements' since, or can the weird transphobic stuff they were doing be attributed to a staff member(s) who has since left?

For me this wouldn't feel so bad if we hadn't just had Ethan for two full games who besides for some small sections, was the sole lead of his games and RE7 didn't feel the need to push Chris for RE7 (and in the marketing for RE8 the tried to paint Chris as an antagonist) which kind of ends coming across Capcom having less trust and faith that Grace can sell the game compared to Ethan on her own merits. As I mentioned in the other thread, I always remember when the AC devs revealed that Ubisoft's higher ups forced the AC: Odyssey team into having an optional male playable protagonist along with Kassandra because "women don't sell" and HAVE to be chaperoned by a man and this is giving me those vibes and it's sad that Grace is being absolutely overshadowed because of it.

I really hope this fails, just want trans people to be left alone. I will be taking notes on all Democrats who speak in support or vote in favour of this bill, no trans person should ever be pressured to vote for any Dem who's made it clear their happy to sacrifice trans people and just transphobes.

Yeah really mixed feelings on this, this feels like the don't trust a woman to be the main lead of the game, they didn't do this to Ethan in Resident Evil 7 (and in RE8 when they did use Chris in marketing, the marketing about him was him potentially being an Antagonist, the opposite of fan expectations). This feels like the Ubisoft logic of "Women don't sell, they must be chaperoned by a man!"





That still feels like not trusting a woman lead to be the main star of the game compared to Ethan in RE7-8 or even Leon with Resident Evil 4 and it's Remake.
