There's a boss fight where Ridley holds Samus down by her lower body and shoulders and tries to stab her with his tail over and over, while Samus gets a POV of his naked body waist-up, very clearly meant to give the impression that Samus is being raped. That isn't even touching the rest of the story (turning Samus into a blubbering mess is truly the tip of the iceberg).

I can't respect a game that thoughtlessly throws around sexual assault in any capacity. The whole game is dripping in misogyny. It bothers me way too much to even start thinking about the gameplay (which was also bad)!

Even in the Ridley pic that got posted on this page you can clearly appreciate he got redesigned to look more human (pupils, head full of hair, torso identical to a human male rather than a weirdly skinny alien)

And the pic doesn't capture his brazenly suggestive humping animation whenever he readies his "tail attack" (lol)

I think sometimes this sort of thing can get exaggerated but in this specific case I really think you have to be a bit disingenuous not to see it

New rulesets. And even if you decide on a standard ruleset, people forget--old habits die hard and what not.

I used to love this game. It's just chore to play now.

I think it mostly applies to the ree "trans" crowd. I've mentioned before how out of touch they are. They never bring up anything happening in trans fashion, art or music unless it's already been widely reported by the mainstream media. It's weird. I hate this movie so much. The casual racism & sexism, the bulk of the movie being constantly beating up this guy and then an angel coming around and saying "It's okay that you sacrificed your own dreams and desires, because it helped others" (which is the thing the protagonist has been complaining about all movie!) without giving any actual help for the guy's immediate problem or mental health issues, the fact that it ends not with the villain getting his come-uppance but with the protagonist's wife convincing everybody to loan and chip in money to save the protagonist from a problem that he didn't create. I just find it a very unpleasant and depressing movie.

You find the town... full of people who we were just shown unequivocally have better lives because of George's selflessness... coming together to save him from problems outside of his control.... in gratitude, appreciation, and genuine love and affection after all he has done for them... unpleasant and depressing???

I cannot possibly wrap my head around this one. It has gotta be in contention for the single most uplifting thing in the history of film.

It's nice that they help out, but it gives off "Saved by a GoFundMe for something that wasn't my fault to begin with" vibes, which admittedly, makes it very relevant in 2025. And fixing the stolen money problem just solves his immediate problem and doesn't help with any of George's underlying issues.

I liked the ending of Pollyanna execution of this trope better. She's spent the entire movie trying to be optimistic for people who have lost hope and then when she's at her lowest, is suffering major health issues, and has given up, the whole town comes and shows how much they love her and give her hope again.
