Let me preface this: I LOVE Taco Bell, it's the best value in fast food and I go three times per week. I love their LTO model where the menu stays fresh because items go away or come every few weeks. But the biggest thing that gives you amazing value is their Box model. For $6, you can get a Luxe Cravings Box including a few items and a drink and for $9, you can get a Discovery Box. The Discovery Box typically includes a limited time item (whatever is their current LTO item), a taco, a Dorito Locos Taco, your choice of cinnamon twists or chips and nacho cheese and a medium drink.
Today, the new Taco Bell menu came out. The new thing is steak or chicken dipping burritos paired with all-new "Creamy Garlic Sauce" to dip them in.

I got a $9 Discovery Box today, same thing as I always order. Mountain Dew Baja Midnight upsized to a large for a 25 cents upcharge and sub the Cinnamon Twists for Chips and Nacho Cheese. Always $9.25. I'm used to this 25 cents upcharge, it isn't that bad.

Today, I got a $9 Discovery Box with the new dipping burritos with garlic sauce, the upsize to a large was $0.50 not $0.25 (so they doubled the cost of upsizing the medium to a large) and to substitute the Cinnamon Twists for Chips and Nacho Cheese, which has ALWAYS been free, I had to pay $1.25. On top of this, they didn't even give me a taco in the box when the discovery box typically has 4 items. The justification for this I'm assuming is because that they included a Chalupa so they thought it would be okay to replace two tacos with that and remove one item and charge the same price.

Here's my issue with that: I understand that they included a chalupa, but the dipping burrito was very unfilling, tiny and gone in a few bites, I'm not joking when I say this, it looked like it was the length of my index finger. It feels more like a side dish than an actual meal item so a taco should've still been included in the box for the price. What kind of value is this Taco Bell?

Some of the cheapest food is crap) I mean this isn't to say we should all make an effort to eat healthy when we can (I've cut out sugary soda) but, it's just hard. We've had the discussion about car culture and portion sizes and such many times too.

This might be a hot take but I feel like this is one of our less urgent problems, as bad as it is (I don't want people saying I'm not acknowledging being overweight puts you at risk of a myriad of health issues because, yeah. Obviously. But it's a very complex issue that might take restructuring the entirety of American society to solve. So... yeah) And a lot of the people that act like it's the worst thing America is facing aren't always in the best faith (a lot of people just find overweight people gross and ugly and use "concern over health" as a veil for abuse sadly)
