The videos are harrowing, especially when you take into account the fact that neither of them truly had any idea that they were in their last moments, that in that moment they truly expendable, a mere opportunity for some small man to finally reaffirm their masculinity and fantasy by experiencing the thrill of dishing out violence, of killing another human being, someone's family member. They were there one moment and then wrenched away by some pig the next. It's despicable.

I'm saying that to sit here and say that whiteness was not the most glaring factor here in the response to the sudden swell of support for ICE's abolishment, why you know Renee and Alex's names compared to every other Black and Browm person ICE has killed- tells me you all truly still do not understand or are even still in active denial of the fact- even with fucking Nazis marching down the streets in broad daylight- that the major political and cultural pillar of this country is white supremacy. They killed some of y'all own, treated them like dogs, and that's intolerable, unfathomable, a bridge too far. Because they were true humans. Full humans. Now something must be done.

I mean, it's boring picking on Nepenthe at this point, but the whole thesis of her message falls apart when you consider that poeple are still saying "well, Renee Good was peeling out with cops standing in front of her car...what did she expect?" or "Alex Pretti was locked and loaded at the protest...you're saying he was there just to take pictures?"

Nepenthe is asserting that Good and Pretti's innocence is automatically presumed because they're white (which wouldn't happen if they had been black), but this is pretty verifiably not true. If anything I think both of them are pretty analogous to many killed-by-cop stories involving black victims: "but why did they...how'd they get there...what's their background...." etc. etc.
