Context is everything. Nothing can be done here. Mature adults see it for what it is and go about your day.

While this specific situation is unfortunate, what is also unfortunate was that Black people were essentially told by the world at large to merely accept their dehumanization. This is just another instance in a long cultural trend/pattern of white people insisting that they are going to treat Black people as lesser than, because they have a condition, or because they were angry, or because it's not who they are, and that it is Black people are the ones that need to show grace every single time it happens.

The overall response towards Black people being angry that two Black men were called the n-word isn't maturity. It's just white supremacy.

There's some people out there (and resetera is full of them) who see victimhood as a superpower they can use to win arguments.
And malfoyisking is right, the purpose of the n-word and other slurs is to belittle someone's existence as a human being. I'm sure it took some of the sting off knowing it was involuntary, but it probably still brought back painful feelings of childhood bullies and racist/homophobic assholes for a lot of people in the audience.

The only real asshole in this scenario is the BBC for leaving it in the broadcast, and for lying about "not hearing it". They fucking warned people ahead of time the guy might yell things, they either didn't raise it to the editors which means they're grossly inept or they decided to leave it in for publicity which means they're shameless. Since it's the BBC could go either way I guess.

I get the sentiment. I also tend to get pretty salty about people that have had the luxury to chase their dreams due to some family privilege. I'm trying to be a bit more chill about it but it comes up. Being lucky enough to have a lawyer father that can invest 25k a year into your professional athletic training is not something the vast majority of people will have access to. That said, that doesn't necessarily erase the struggle of becoming the best in the world and setbacks that fight against that. That and she generally seems to be a pretty good person, so it's a bit easier to overlook. I may also be a bit biased being in The Bay.

Edit: For instance Taylor Swift's career was also backed by a supporting family putting up similar amounts of money, but I'm tryin to be more chill about my salt on that front. I WAS on the same front with Rebecca Black until I learned more of the details and have basically done a 180.

It happens. My best friend who is the biggest cinephile i've ever met had never watched Indiana Jones before. We sat down to watch it together over Skype, and 10 mins in my motherboard melted.
