2. Trump, the failed real estate businessman, tried to get the Russians to let him put TRUMP on some building he would have never built. The deal never went anywhere because even socialists aren't dumb enough to do business with Donald Trump.

and that all this was happening as Russia/Putin was beginning the process of their 21st century fascist imperial conquest starting with Georgia in 2008, then Crimea, and now to Ukraine today.

That Hilary Clinton is one of the few long term experienced US politicians who could correctly and clear-headedly assess and confront all of this stuff, and is a big part as to why so much effort was taken to deny her ascension.

Guy forgets that the Obama-Clinton foreign policy was premised on the idea that George W. Bush was too distrustful of Putin. Even after Chechnya and invading Georgia. They openly mocked Mitt Romney for saying Russia was a priority less than 18 months before Crimea. I'm aware of the gag, see the previous thread I linked.

But there's still a line to walk and the post I quoted read to me like it was going a bit far in insulting the way the poster who fell for it usually posts and what they had to say. At the end of the day, the thread title is INTENDED to trick people and make them upset enough to react given the high emotions surrounding the subject matter. Point out when someone fell for it and have a laugh, sure. But the "why read when you can post big text" felt like a bit much.

I'd say this joke has diminishing returns personally but it wasn't a shot at you for making it, I assume you weren't aware of the other thread when doing so. Honestly, I just remembered that thread when reading this one and posted a link to it, no deeper meaning to me doing so. No need to call their thread worse or anything like that...

That said, isn't the whole point that the OP is suppose to give itself away? People are getting official warnings on their account for "not reading the OP", so if you're saying you were trying to ALSO trick them with the OP, I think those warnings are in poor taste. (Which, to be clear, is on the mods, not you)

This isn't a thread meant to talk about Weird Al. It's a thread meant to make people think about AI and react to the notion that someone might like AI. This whole thread has been weird about this from the jump imo, bad vibes. Like people actually getting warnings for falling for a trick, those people then having others insult them and call them bots (which is nonsensical because if someone was a bot they wouldn't fall for the AI/Al trick to begin with).

I agree and the extent of the reaction should be "lol you got tricked" or making jokes about the thread itself, not "OFFICIAL WARNING. READ THE OP NEXT TIME" alongside users insulting the way they normally post and accusing them of being a bot. The reaction here is going into holier than thou territory about not falling for an intended trick.

Even saying that, let's also acknowledge that according to the OP themselves, they wrote the entire post with the intention of not giving away the trick. So even if you do "read the OP", you have to know who Weird Al is and recognize the names of the songs being posted. If you were unfamiliar because you, say, aren't the exact age and nationality that would lend oneself to being familiar with Weird Al, then you could still read the OP and think they were posting AI videos. At which point the issue isn't "didn't read the OP", it's "failed to understand the OP's joke" or "didn't watch the videos and do research on the things listed in the OP", and neither of those should be getting this reaction.

But I also recognize that is a conversational dead end on this forum... and the weekend is over anyway, so it's time to move on.

If I remember the previous Scary Movie's correctly, the main characters are generally shown to be quite stupid and bad people rather than upstanding paragons of virtue. They would wield pronouns or "cancel culture" like the cast of Always Sunny rather than Bluey. So the complaints seem to be about depicting anything negatively?
