This is irrelevant. Trump decided whether the USA responds if a NATO state is attacked. If he says they won't respond, NATO is dead. The senate is utterly meaningless to the reality on the ground.

I don't believe for a second that the United States and Trump would abandon Europe if it were attacked. We must not forget that his wife is from Slovenia, and that his mother was Scottish; he has strong ties in Europe, and I am sure that despite everything he says, he will actually rush to help Europe at the first sign of trouble.

I think the broader issue with the "N-word" is that Era permits it in basically every imaginable case other than Jews.

I'm not saying they should be allowed to call Jews Nazis, but since it's never treated as a sensitive or high-impact word (Trump is a Nazi, JK Rowling is a Nazi, Warren Ellis is a Nazi), then suddenly getting popped in the context of Israel seems incongruous. 

I mean, consider that the word "cunt" has more consistent enforcement.

"But they're acting like Nazis!" is a weak argument. The stronger argument is "But you allow us to use it as half-assed shorthand for 'no-no people' in literally every other context". But then in order to make that argument, they'd have to admit that is what they're actually doing in other cases and no different than what they wish they could do here.

I can't help but feel like this story breaking yesterday was supposed to be the media's big, obligatory F U to the trans community for Trans Day of Visibility but honestly...it's pretty meh. Like ok, some people will kink-shame, some won't, some will feel assured in their transphobia because it's propably how many people misconceptualize being trans but in the overall scheme of things the press seems to kinda slip...? Not that I think they want to but that they now spent nearly 10 years in breathless hystery about trans people they just seem to be bound to be out of ideas I hope.

Just went to this earlier today with my kids. I'm trying to parse it out in my head, but even more than the first one, this feels like a different kind of faithful video game adaptation in that there is barely a semblance of a plot and is endless spectacle. Which doesn't make a good movie, or definitely an artful one, but it's a fun experience if you are open to just taking it in. Which kids do all the time.

And I'd so much rather have fun spectacle than wasting time on a bad plot. I wish we could have both! A different animation studio could do both! But for what it is it's not offensive. Any reviewer who reviewed this lower than minions should be taken out back.

It's like John Wick for kids! You're not there for why he kills a lot of people! You just want to see it. And they beat the shit out of a lot of people in this movie!

Honestly I think there has been always some broad conflation as you call it between trans and crossdressing communities from the crossdressing community itself, like the MTF subreddit (maybe the biggest subreddit for trans women) was recently found out to have a crossdresser mod for years that had to be removed because they were found to be allowing all kinds of crossdressers to post hypersexual content in the community carte blanche. Most older spaces for trans women (forums, irl groups etc) are more designed for crossdressers/sissies etc, and a lot of trans women only spaces both online and IRL have to weed out crossdressers that come to them in bad faith purely because they are horny

It's very confusing to navigate even for me as a trans woman in these spaces so I imagine it's even more confusing from the outside from cis people's perspective, it's very likely why there's so many laws and stereotypes about trans women potentially being predators and perverts, because there's a broad class of cis men (of which there are way way more cis men with a crossdressing fetish than there is self identified trans women) with a fetish who essentially are identical looking to how a trans woman can superficially look

Like many relatives and previous friends of mine don't even talk to me anymore because they think I'm someone like this, the confusion is deep in society
