IRL? Yeah my whole family is MAGA. I never debate them anymore. I just talk to them. You just talk to them like normal people and engage on issues where the is common ground and aligned goals. You make it known that you do not agree with their opinions on Trump but don't bring it up constantly. You just make sure they know where you stand if they ever ask, but you don't badger them over the horrible things this admin is doing. You use that as a shield if they start to go in on you on something you believe through the path of judgement. After some time, you may have them ask you a question out of curiosity (not judgement), and that's your in to start the deprogramming. I've made a lot of progress on gun legislation with them and social welfare, but they'll never fully "get it." They will forever be Self-Aware Wolves, and there is — frankly — nothing any of us can ever fucking do about that.

This is a right-wing myth, you're compromising with fascism.

Hearing about healthy masculinity in Pragmata with a happy dad theme is definitely getting me interested to check it out. I did not like the dad-child relationships in God of War, and I agree with you Robotoboy. I get they're not meant to be good role models, Joel and Kratos, they're meant to be assholes but I just don't care for it.

To be honest both sides of the stupidity spectrum feed off each other and invariably produce content. If I didn't know any better I'd say they are in on it. Rightists just claim everything succesful for themselves. Pragmata is popular, so they claim it. Crimson Desert is popular, so they claim it. It's completely arbitrary. They will champion games like Pragmata and CD, that are made almost entirely by people of color in Asian countries and even have some themes that could be read as leftist ("The strong should protect the weak and only bad guys think the strong should subjugate the weak" for Crimson Desert, and "positive masculinity and fatherhood is kind, vulnerable and emotionally open while also being protective" for Pragmata). Meanwhile they throw the kind of game they claim they want, a gameplay first, hardcore, competetive game with minimal narrative, made in America by what I presume is a primarily white, primarily male team, like Marathon under the bus because it undersold.

The truth is, the only way for them to win is to follow what's currently popular, rally behind it, and then claim it's a win for them. "Everything people like belongs to us, everything people dislike is woke" and which they only decide after the popular opinion's already out.

Didn't Assmongold literally go back and forth on whether he liked Crimson Desert based on what the public response to it was?

Hint: the general public doesn’t care either way most of the time.

Really weird that there's a coordinated social media campaign to smear the two people behind Track AIPAC right around primary season as voters increasingly reject the Israel lobby and any candidate associated with it.

I just think what's happening on social media with this coordinated push to smear Track AIPAC all of a sudden is very transparent. In a way, it's a good thing, as the powers that be within the party see it as enough of a threat to go after.

Smear Track AIPAC to shield pro-Israel stooges from being held to account for their complicity in genocide. Same deal with going after Hasan who's helping people like Abdul El-Sayed get elected instead of Haley Stevens or Mallory McMorrow, candidates that are associated with AIPAC and pro-Israel donors respectively (the likes who fund AIPAC, DMFI, Friends of Israel PAC etc)

Fuck J street. They just did podsave as part of a pr tour since they made the "no money for dome defense" pledge. It was a fucking mess of delusion. I had a moment where maybe I thought they were correcting course but that appearance on podsaveamerica with Tommy proved they are not even close.

And J-Street isn't AIPAC, but it is a pro-Israel PAC - just one that is a bit more reasonable, and more responsible about throwing around terms like "anti-Semitism". But they're still ultimately a PAC that exists to cultivate political support for Israel. They're the ones pushing the "Israel should buy their own weapons" thing, which is meant to try and manage the dumpster fire that is Israel's reputation with American voters right now but doesn't actually do anything to stop Israel from doing anything it's doing.

Track AIPAC hitjob is currently underway on social media by Chorus/Sixteen Thirty Fund dark money influencers. Really sad that some people are falling for it but I don't think it pushes the needle either way. AIPAC and support for Israel in the US is done.

It's my opinion, and no - there isn't anything wrong with men or fathers sharing their feelings... however I don't think Kratos is a well written "father"

The entire Norse saga is written primarily from a perspective of Kratos processing his own past evils and emotions through his son. This is not healthy, and it is pretty trash. I grew up with father figures like this, and I can tell you outright that when I heard Kratos call Atreus "boy" it made me cringe inside.

Atreus is constantly stepping on eggshells around Kratos, and the mans inability to be tender with his son is not some enviable storyline... I personally found Kratos to me a picture of machismo trying to force himself into the role of a father through the narcissistic lens he portrayed to have.

Joel is similar to me. He processes his grief and emotions through a child character whom he obligates throughout the story...

Cutting my critique down to "that's insane, men can share their feelings!?" is disingenuous. Adult mature men can do it in a healthy way, and not process them through their projection onto a child. Hugh shares his feelings multiple times with Dianna, and it's fine. The other two are monstrous sociopaths imo.

Saying Diana is realistic is like saying Tifa and Aerith are 'realistic' depictions of women (i.e. they're massively idealized, both in and out) (which, sure, basically works because Diana is robobot/AI and all that). Diana's cute, and super polite, and super smart, and amazingly well-mannered, and new and naive to the world. I think it's still writing a kid character than actually thinking she is one.

...To be fair, I don't think Hugh is much different in representing his own idealized archetype. He's just a swell fella, thank goodness.
