Yesterday my 12-yr old daughter came out to me as transgender. I gave them a hug and told them I loved them. The sexuality of my children really doesn't concern me; I'm happy if they are happy. I did ask them to give me some grace as I adjust from she/her to they/them/it. I mean, I still call my Subaru my Jetta, even though I've owned two other cars since I last owned a Jetta in 2015. I'm going to slip up.

That's not where my conflict lies. I am proud of them and support whatever they want to do, however, we live in an extremely right-wing and religious town. I fully intend to support them however I can, but I also want to caution them about broadcasting their sexuality in this town. I want to prepare them for what might come their way and I don't want it to seem like I am trying to silence them or that I am not proud of them. I'm just concerned about their well-being. They identified as gay earlier in the year, so I don't know if their identity will change again or not. I've never been a 12-yr old female that identified as trans; this is new to me. I just want to be there for them and make sure they are as happy as they can be.

Just today I had to pull my son out of high school for the day because a classmate said "I feel sorry for people of the LGBTQ community for being "like that" and that "instead of throwing the Jews in the concentration camps like they deserved we should throw the gays in there instead". We are Jewish. Was that kid was being a garden variety fuck or was he deliberately saying that to my son because of his sister? I don't know.

I want them to be safe and I am struggling a bit on how to have that conversation. Any suggestions would be welcome. My apologies if this comes off rambling; the concentration camp comment has be a bit fired up.

More than friends, the Hassan we see today only exists because Destiny brought him under his wing and propped him up. Prior he was a failed content creator on his uncles network the young Turks, he was doing pretty small Fortnite streams max 100 people, but became friends with Destiny and it all spun off.

To those who are unfamiliar with Hasan, doubt his wit and intelligence, and have only seen random clips of his streams on reddit, bluesky and so: Take a few minutes and watch some other content, like him participating in an actual debate (had one with Charlie Kirk, Hasan destroyed him). Or watch an interview with him.

You might not like his style of content, his fratty and edgy persona or the concept of political streamers in general, but let's not kid ourselves. The dude is clearly educated and intelligent.

I do think there is something to the complaints that Hasan is treated more like a "shock jock" saying vulgar things by his critics in the media than someone discussing topics (probably because that is what he is) but at the same time this is how the traditional media generally attacks everyone even slightly outside of a certain style. I mean, this is like a major theme of the criticism against Trump. They still obsess over what he tweets and says and what he could theoretically mean and thus do by that more than anything he actually does. A lot of Era is driven entirely by that framing too. And I would say, so is Hasan's own commentary about everything. Like Hasan has absolutely zero interest in discussing the situation with Israel or anything about socialism, he just wants to blindly erase any nuance, dismiss any other people's concerns and demand a simple, final, solution to what to him is perfectly simple and clear about the eternal conspiracy holding us all down. 

His attack on the "Israel's right to exist" "talking point" is entirely because he knows he doesn't have an actual answer to it without having to abandon his hardline position. If he says yes, that's true, then he's a Zionist and immediately suspect. If he says no, well then you have to accept that you're saying you want a genocide.

It may come as a shock to a lot of people here, but many many people in the world view China as a singing example of success and progress, despite all of the harm the country has also done. Purity testing based on affinity for China's progress is really not real-world applicable. It's just that we in the USA are propagandized to instinctively question anything China related.
