Sore throats are the worst, yeah. I get them a lot because I'm a singer who takes terrible care of their voice, and the lava-throat I got from COVID was comparable to the post-nasal drip URIs I would get every single year when I had to live through Chicago pollen season. Couldn't swallow anything solid, had to subsist entirely on liquids and soft foods like Jello for days.

If you're not getting the post-nasal drip and the lava-throat, you're in good shape. Especially since you're able to sleep too. Fingers crossed you recover swiftly!

Got diagnosed yesterday after almost falling faint from what I thought was a sinus infection and a lack of appetite from said infection. Hopped on over to my local urgent care center, told them my symptoms, and we were all sure from what I was describing it was just a sinus infection, brought on from the cold weather. They did the nasal swab just in case, and upon returning the nurse said "Sooooo...." And I knew right then and there. My luck had run out. My dream of immunity dashed. My three-year no-sickness streak ruined. I likely picked it up at my friend's rock concert; I still wear a mask everywhere I go in public, but given how small the venue was for how many people were there, it was probably inevitable lol.

On the bright side, it feels exactly like the colds I used to have as a kid: sleepiness, stuffiness, dry, irritated nasal cavities, and a wet cough. No altered taste, sore throat, breathing difficulties, or anything more exotic. I'm also able to sleep well. The worst thing honestly is the methylprednisolone tablets I have to take. They're fucking nasty no matter how quick you are getting them down.

So I'm stuck in my bedroom for five days, taking food and drink passed by the doorway like an inmate. Just gonna sleep, Discord, and work on my Steam backlog... oh yeah, Sonic Frontiers. I need to finish that too.

So yeah just wanted to vent (cry). Anyone else going through it right now?

I empathize with her as I had a very similar situation last month. Was ducking and weaving for three years and finally caught (as well as my wife catching it) from a Sam’s Club trip at end of August. NepNep needs to be cautious as it starts as minor cold symptoms but escalates from there. Still, how it affects people can differ drastically, so YMMV.

I don’t really sympathize with her though. Kind of comes with the price of her being an aloof, judgmental, arrogant, self-absorbed cunt. Don’t really care too much when they get sick.

Like okay, you know where they stand on social issues and Jews?  Israel wanted a 2 state solution from the start of the current state but Arabs immediately started a civil war and it big picture hasn't stopped.  Hamas wants all Jews to die. Like I cannot believe how far off they are and supporting people that make Trump look progressive.

Israel has committed a lot of atrocities but what are they supposed to do? Just be terrorist attacked and roll over? Leave to another part of the world despite them having a much longer stake to the land?

Also a bit weird how the tweet frames it as wanting to take away trans people's passports and driver licenses, which sounds really dramatic and would probably break a ton of laws, while the actual petition is just asking that the sex on passports and driver licenses matches the gender people were born with.

I honestly can't see the point of the activists routinely explicitly lying about stuff that is easily exposed with just a cursory check.
Same deal with the 'oh, we are the most vulnerable group there is' nonsense or the 'well its basically a holocaust' stuff.

I can't see how reasonable people find this anything but counter-productive. Is the actual point being to find unreasonable people who don't bother fact checking, or even exercising any critical analysis of claims? If so, why?

it's the kind of thing that I expect to be quickly memory holed to the point where after a year or two, maybe even you or I would take numbers of "all deaths in the ongoing conflict" at face value

it's genuinely the same as the "500 dead in hospital" thing, you won't fact check it because isn't it ghoulish to start down that road of discounting so much loss of life, or to be so horribly transphobic as to call these claims into question

I have to ask any IDF defenders who happen to be reading, what is your goal and how come bombing people is the only way to achieve it? Mind you, in 2021 when Zogby polled Palestinians in Gaza, only 11% of them said they supported Hamas. So bombing them helps you how, exactly?

It's a little disingenuous to ask questions like that when you know it will get any person who tries to answer it banned, my friend.
