How much do you think it hurts terminally online trans folk to know that normal people don't give a shit about their boycotts?

I have been complimented on it many times - how it complements my natural scent. My ex-boyfriend was crazy about it. I have had women ask me what it is so they can tell their boyfriends to wear it.

I know how to put it on - right after the shower, pulse lines, at the correct distance. Not too much. It's a nice cologne. Expensive.

Anyway. I was just invited to Thanksgiving dinner by a friend. I was very grateful for the invite; I love my friend and I had no plans. But the invite came with a request from her parents - "as long as he doesn't wear any cologne." My friend assures me - her parents are rural and just not accustomed to that stuff. Fair enough.

I'm not offended, only startled and bemused. I'm excited for the dinner but will feel naked. I have encountered this issue in medical settings but never at a holiday dinner. I already set a calendar note to not put any cologne on that day, but am afraid I will not see it and have to shower again because I accidentally applied cologne (it's the first thing I do after drying off). But like...once you put it on that's kind of how it is for the day, rinse or no, I might have to smoke a cigarette to counter it at that point? I'm going to be worried about this for a month. I'm concerned.

Has this happened to anyone else here?

Okay, let's hear the feedback on my normal thread.

The world doesn't revolve around you. Maybe the scent of cologne is triggering.  wag

"I have had women ask me what it is so they can tell their boyfriends to wear it." I'd bet money that it was women trying to make small talk during an awkward situation.

Thank you for this thread, the OPs updates are brilliant, their refusal to name the aftershave means it’s some niche scent that cost them over $200 and they obviously use it as their whole personality.

That cologne thread is hilarious. The best thing is the op's dousing himself in cheap shite while acting like he's got some kind of unique Tom Ford blend. This guy gets it -

For well over a decade, I’ve made the conscious choice to avoid cologne and just smell like my body wash and deodorant combo and you know what? I get complimented on my scent constantly. I don’t have to bomb people’s nasal passages to do it either!

Anyone who claims they “know how to use cologne” always smells like the inside of a department store perfume aisle from like a mile off. You aren’t appeasing the masses with your potent smell, you’re a walking allergen. Please, for the sake of everyone that happens to share this space and time in the universe with you, find a good soap and give up the spritz.

For the first time in it's history ree has made an intended funny. It's not the greatest funny, but for ree it's a milestone. Like computers becoming sentient or something -

Quote:Every day I wear a massive, angry hawk on my shoulder that screeches and pecks at people's eyes and cheeks. It's become a trademark of mine, and everybody loves it. People compliment me while backing away frantically. I've had several people ask me what it is, so they can tell a doctor or police officer.

Anyway. I received an invitation to a party, and was dismayed to see NO MASSIVE SHOULDER HAWKS on the invite. I'm not offended – perhaps the host is allergic to feathers – but I am very, very offended. I won't feel comfortable without my huge hawk's powerful talons gripping my shoulder while it punctures and screams at everyone around.

I could probably disagree on this sort of thinking tbh because I have more than a passing interest in aftershave and have some nicer ones that are definitely not ones that are overpowering (I know how apply them {Christ I sound like the loser in the OP}) but can definitely be smelt by people who wouldn’t be giving me a hug, but within the personal space.

The posters in that thread for the most part will probably have zero idea of aftershave and just parrot what they think they know with zero actual experience, just like every other topic.

But I will still stand but the fact the OP runs some niche fragrance that is not something that’s palatable by the majority and it would be overpowering hence he’s been asked to refrain from wearing it. Also lol at only running one fragrance

Does anyone else always assume that when someone on Era is talking about their partner/ex-boyfriend they are either gay or dating a trans-woman?

I assume it's someone who was forced to talk to them for a day or two, probably online too tbf

But we don’t know where they fall with a lot of these dudes. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t mock them but saying that getting an actual diagnosis is useless because they are adults is kind of Doge . That is at least could be a step up to try to change a little (even if they don’t or use it as “I’m special).

Not saying that they, RE users, will change, but that there is a benefit in knowing if you brain actually doesn’t work like others, specially for the people that really want to change their behavior.
