And that's without talking about historical nationalistic movements like indian nationalism during british colonialism or algerian nationalism during french colonialism. So yeah, it can get really different

First off, I watched the video. I give Max the benefit of the doubt, not just for the evidence presented but taking into account his good rep established here over the years. That doesn't mean that a healthy dose of side-eye isn't coming his way, but it's okay to chalk it up to a slip of the tongue and move on.

What I find considerably more comical is the rush by several posters to show their asses in futile attempts to shut down the discussion. Whether out of concern for a streamer they like, or - more likely - preemptively shout down anyone who might take offense, the results are the same. Casual dismissal? Gone. They-say-it-why-can't-we-say-it? Gone. Thread whining? Gone. Intent doesn't matter? Gone. "Outrage culture"? Gone.

Listen - preemptively yelling about "outrage" not only exposes a dangerously Philistine pig ignorance on the topic at hand, but social issues in general. You're saying, "it doesn't matter to me, so it shouldn't matter to anyone". That's asshole behaviour, and it will get you clipped.

What you and your ilk need to understand are these 3 key pillars:

1. The narrative is not within your control
2. The discussion will take place without you
3. Nothing of value will be lost

I feel you. I have been really getting back into fighting games over the last few years, and now my older, wiser self just can't cannot with the level of fan service that is dished out in these games. Even when I was at peak hormones as a teen, I thought the horniness level in these games felt like a bit much. Now as an middle aged man, I just don't have time for it. I remember looking for a new fighter to try and was recommended BlazBlu... It sucks; I love the mechanics and systems, but jfc I swear this shit was made by people who like the idea of women more than they actually like women.

Years ago when Max was doing the MvC3 cosplay videos he seemed like a better person; I got older and more mature but he seemed to regress. I don't think that a lot of the elders get that they set the tone and their words have weight. They don't acknowledge that they are being manipulated by the game publishers that only care about sales. Recently I was watching TnS and Tong went on a tirade against some homophobe/transphobe in their livestream chat. That was nice. He's not perfect but I think he gets that a lot of their viewers are minors that could use some guidance. Yipes has said some...things... on streams that I'm not a fan of either. It's keeping the whole EVO/pro-gaming scene back but also, does there need to be a Pro Fighting Game League at all? I think a big part of this whole hobby is to learn about ourselves and have fun. Not everything needs to be a profession.

That looks like Reiq's art, who was a prominent rule34 artist (and I mean that literally, he ran a subscription porn site of his fanart). Nowadays he does a lot of work for Udon, a publisher that has a close partnership with Capcom. They're the ones who put out the Street Fighter Swimsuit Edition, which is exactly what you expect, and Reiq has been contributing art towards that including the cover art. So unfortunately there's a good chance that piece of art is going to be "official" to an extent.
