While my wording wasn't the best, and I could have expressed myself much better, I still stand by what I posted four years ago.

Also, to the people who completely dismissed and acted passive aggressive: You are not as clever as you think you are.

I graduated with a degree in Public Policy last year, and now I'm unemployed. So I think this is the perfect opportunity to let my rage out. Four years of full time employment with overtime hours while studying is pain and it fucking destroys you. For these past 4 years I've damaged my feet, I've damaged my back, I have to take ADHD meds now because of damaged caused by sleep issues and hyperactivty at work. Meds that the garbage country I live in refuses to put on the market because they would rather save money.
So what did I get from this incredible adventure? Nothing. A piece of shit paper that proudly reminds me how I got a degree in Public Policy that has no real value both from a technical or career point of view. GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT. You know what's funny about the entire thing? These four years at my Uni weren't only a complete waste of time, but also I had to endure right wingers lecturers who every course somehow found a way to tell the group that trans people are ill and Ukraine deserves to be bombed. No wonder so many in my group from maybe centrist went straight to being right wing. And no, don't answer that, it isn't funny it's fucking sad. You know why? Cuz we live in a world where we put people that don't care for higher education in these institutions because it's the only worth mentioning way to get a better opportunity in the job market.

This isn't STEM or a Medical degree, there's no point, value or justification for universities to waste your life in their shitty 4 year programs only for them to be completely worthless after.

Because I'm sure that there will be an American that shows up in this thread and yells, "TRADES, TRADES, TRADES."
FIRSTLY, a trade license means next to nothing in a lot of places in Europe and doesn't help you much to begin with (if you can even find one that isn't a fucking scam).
SECONDLY, a degree is king. There are people collecting trade certificates like white bread, and employers are fully aware of it.
THIRDLY, maybe just maybe high school should be structured better so it doesn't produce centrists and right-wingers who are then sent to universities in the hope that they might, if we're lucky, become liberals. Because I sure as hell can't find this army of leftists coming out of these higher education institutions.

Making successful indie games are way harder than people think and its a little annoying when people flippantly say "indie games are thriving" when No only a small select few are thriving.

There is plenty of trash in the indie space. Let's not pretend all these games are equally worth players' time. 



Do good games get overlooked sometimes? Sure, but it might take a few months for WoM to build and sales to pick up. The top-tier indie games generally get noticed eventually. Maybe it's a small dedicated cult following instead of massively blowing up, but that's just how it works. This gets into the weird space of trying to decide what a game "deserves" for sales, which is just stupid.

There are so many high quality indies that just fall through the cracks.

I'm curious what he considers "high quality". A game can have a unique, appealing art style and not be fun to play. A game can have engaging gameplay but look like shit. A game can be free of bugs and well-made doesn't mean it "deserves" to be a hit. 

So many indie games are really uneven and inconsistent. When you're going up against a Silksong or Mina the Hollower in the indie space, yeah, the bar is fucking high. No shit.

"If the game is good, it will be successful" but they probably never tried 99% of games they could possibly love, because there's way too many games.

How much junk would I need to play through to find these diamonds? I've run into plenty of "You'll love this game if you enjoy X!" only to be presented with too much jank or uncooked mechanics. I'm not going to dedicate my life to making sure I play every indie game that might be somewhat decent, and neither should anyone else.

I just don't think audiences care anymore for the lower-tier superheroes. And there just aren't that many A-Tier female superheroes outside of Wonder Woman. Like, Wonder Woman is her own thing, she's not a female copy of another hero (Supergirl, Batwoman, etc.). You gotta give audiences a reason to watch Superman's big-little cousin instead of just waiting to see Superman again.

I say this as someone that enjoyed my time on a “useless” degree and would defend those.

it's true, though at the same time no degree is useless, simply having a degree demonstrates that you were able to put the time in on "higher education," probably learned to work well in groups, shows a little initiative, etc.

I can't say whether most employers think that way in today's job market, but there was a time when that was the case, and anyone with a degree would be weighted a little higher above anyone without one

It's because we flooded the market with degrees, something which millions of people clamor for others to suffer violence and poverty to let them pretend they can escape the consequences of what they willingly undertook, so nearly everyone responded by simply boosting the requirements. High school diplomas used to be the line, but those also flooded the market so college experience became wanted.

It's always the same story from these whiners, "(((they))) told me I just had to get a degree and I'd be set for life without ever having to do anything ever again." No, that's what you chose to hear. And now that things aren't immediately as they imagined, someone else must be to blame and someone else needs to pay for my ignorant choices. This movie is no worse than the average superhero film I've seen of late. The amount of ire it's receiving is really bizarre and frankly, overblown. I think it's pretty obvious why.
