Most people won't come home from their 9 to 5 just to sit down in front of their PCs again to play games.
Yes there are ways to connect PCs to a TV but there is no one-fits-all device that acts like a console with their ease of use and TV friendly UI/User Experience.
And no the Steam Machine is definitely not that device and never would have been because of it's Linux constraints and immaturity.

For hardcore gamers and enthusiasts (which are the majority of people here engaging in such topics) that's not an argument, but for most of the 300 million console players it's not even an option and never will be. Take a view outside of your own and look at the bigger picture. Articles like these are just a desperate attempt to drive engagement to feed off the current outrage.

Can someone explain how Netflix is a monopoly when HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+ and Hulu exist? Not to mention the free options like Pluto and Tubi. 

Also how are they not allowed to raise prices during a multi-year inflationary period. Also how are they not allowed to “gatekeep” content they fund or pay for the rights to offer? And how are they gatekeeping? By charging a subscription fee? 

Bell telecom was a monopoly. Netflix is just a successful company that has a huge customer base.

Yeah, pretty obvious you haven't done the work and read the theory. A "monopoly" is a company that does something I don't like. "Anti-trust" means remember that the corporation is not your friend, so don't trust it like one.

Which is exactly why the former FTC Chair Lina Khan's allies are right and they and the Justice Department need to make it cheaper for me to stay subscribed to Netflix's monopoly.

Many of those cuts were industry veterans… the kind of people that the industry desperately needs to maintain given the snail pace of game development and dependency of contractors.

One former studio head said that it was confusing in terms of goals that Microsoft wanted. Was it subscribers for Xbox Game Pass? High engagement time on Game Pass? Revenues and profits from standalone copies sold? Technology demos for the platform? id Software is a part of Bethesda, whose parent firm, ZeniMax, was bought by Microsoft in 2021 for $7.5 billion.

Doom: The Dark Ages got a Metacritic aggregate review score of 83 out of 100 — not bad. The problem with it was that it was played by millions of fans, but many played it for free on Game Pass. Doom was like a counter to other PlayStation games like God of War or The Last of Us. But Doom: The Dark Ages standalone game sales, which would have generated more revenues and profits, were weak. That made it a target. If id Software knew that the goal was revenues and profits, it might have opted for live service or multiplayer modes instead.

As a consumer, I like the concept of gamepass but…
