I had never read the Doom Patrol run after Grant Morrison left until now. A trans woman, Rachel Pollack, takes over the series and I'm mentioning this at all because it's quite funny. First of all, they move to a house full of sex ghosts living out fetishes that are referred to as SRS. Little on the nose, but a decent enough pun I suppose. Then they introduce a former prostitute drawn as an entirely passable woman with zero hints who has gained powers and spend about five issues dropping hints that SHE'S NOT A CIS WOMAN but CLIFF STEELE IS ATTRACTED ANYWAY WON'T HE BE SURPRISED. (Don't worry, he'll be understanding and true love will win out. Not that they can even have sex because Cliff is a robot.)

At this point, if it's not obvious this is a mary sue expy, we get an entire multi-issue plotline where the bad guys are the ones who imposed not only language but gender on humanity in order to control us and place us inside a box and suck out our life forces so we just mindlessly serve rather than feel anything. The good guys are all genderless emotional free spirits in touch with every aspect of the universe. At the same time that all of this is being explained incoherently at extensive length the trans woman character lectures Cliff that they were always a woman and they always knew they were a woman and we get a backstory that consists entirely of they tried to wear a dress one time as a kid. Also Cliff is the idiot cis normie who keeps asking obviously stupid and embarrassing questions so the trans woman can put him in his place over and over again in brave and stunning fashion where the reader stands and claps.

They're also the only character that can defeat the bad guys because they're also the only one in connection with the genderless free past of emotions and those entities. (Even as this raises the question of why they're trying to impose gender like the bad guys.) And the way to defeat them is that the trans woman's soul has to merge with Cliff's robot body through both having orgasms* which turns into a hermaphrodite body followed by like two issues of drivel about this being so strange yet so right culminating with the trans woman soul grabbing the robot's breasts and exclaiming how this is what she wanted. (Then all of this sort of turns out not to matter at all because the genderless things do some deus ex machina instead.)

It just really amused me to read. Over thirty years ago and literally all the same shit.

I don't know if this has been posted in the thread for the DC skins but Fortnite has added multiple female skins with boob jiggle physics this year. Three of them are collab skins, Meg from Hercules, Mercy from Overwatch and Kafka from Honkai Star Rail. Haven't played much at all this season really, though I've dabbled a bit in the last few days. The progression treadmill loop of the game, coupled with not having two other really good friends to form a regular trio kind of sapped my desire to keep running heh. It's a bummer as I still find most of the game compelling, it's just that I don't find the back half of the power curve and the type of gameplay it inherently fosters nearly as compelling as the first half. And I've started to see this attitude become more commonly shared throughout the game/community/discussion.



The new update looks good and hopefully it keeps me interested in playing as well as gets some others back into the game too.



Really though, I'm already kind of waiting for Season 3 reset now.



Was playing on Perimeter last night random filling in trios as I do 90+% of the time. Am only like level 56 at the moment, with kind of blue gear as my baseline as I've really not been taking the game seriously at all this season. Had two randoms who weren't on the mic, so it was a silent team of blue geared people. We ran up against a fucking 1000% max geared three man all golds/high tier equipment and they just shredded us. We even got the opening pick/advantage on the fight and everything, just the gear difference PLUS the team coordination difference was insurmountable. And it was like "yeah that's the game".



Either slavishly dedicate head down to the accumulation of material within the game's "mines", or work to socially politick to have a group ride-or-die with you if you aren't fortunate enough to have a video game playing social circle in your life inherently. And to truly succeed, do both, where you've got your team AND you collectively work to amass wealth in unison.



As someone who primarily plays multiplayer video games as a solo mercenary looking to just headhunt other people, yet who seeks to still play in a team format, this game has gotten increasingly hostile, unsurprisingly.



Might check out the Vault Breaker as a solo player. Don't really have any interest in co-operative PvE in this game (or any game really). If I want to PvE, I'll do it alone relying solely on my own ability against the AI. So it's nice to see that too.



Yeah this is what happened to me in the Perimeter fight that I mention here last night. We got the opening pick despite the gear (and team coordination) difference, and they just vomited out a bunch of bubbles and proceeded to smoke us with whatever gold guns they were using. Was ridiculous.



Me rocking my blue shields, 1 smoke nade, and 12 total green heals: lol welp guess ill die.



Loadout equipment limit is a good idea imo and something I and others have asked for and thought about for awhile now. Still think it'd personally be cool to tie this to the bags, but maybe it's something they are eyeing and might implement later on with more work to the game.



EDIT: Oh and I want to say thanks for editing/continuing to refine the iconography on the implants. Changing them up for legibility's sake in the first place was probably the right call yeah, but I am happy that you all have worked to better refine them into the game's overall visual design language. The first pass was very much a "1st draft" kind of looking thing that stood out like sore thumbs compared to everything else in the game. So big thumbs up there from me, and I know it's going to be an overall "small" thing from most people. But not to me.



EDIT2: And considering this post, that's my next real desire/want/hope from the game: some kind of "mercenaries" trios queue. Would like if I could have that on any map by default at all times, but considering the population and nature of the game, probably not realistic. At least currently. But since it's how I play the majority of the time, it'd be fun to play the game in a guaranteed way knowing th
at all the trios are NOT pre-mades.
