I don't think Metroid really counts because it's only like four games and all by the same guy. Though I'm sure some of the extended lore in the Prime series contradicts something somewhere because of the easter egg references they included.

Zelda nerds are a special species. The thread for the OoT remake announcement somehow has like 5k replies. They literally showed 3 seconds of child Link sleeping and gave zero other info in interviews or whatever. What the actual fuck is there even to discuss?!?!!

Next to nothing, basically. Speculation on the developer, arguing the millionth time about the difference between a remake and a remaster, speculation of what/how many changes they'll make, whining about modern Zelda and how they won't buy the remake if it has "open air" qualities like BotW, blah blah blah

But this is a community where cruelty complaining is the point, and most of these people have turned talking about video games into the main hobby, as opposed to actually playing them.

I don't think it's a very good story either because most of the world building is arbitrary and unexplained as to how it possibly functions

like...dead people are walking around, but they're not ghosts because they can physically interact with the world to the point where people can't even tell that they're dead, and they aren't zombies because they don't decay and stink up the place, so...what the hell is actually happening

that's not even starting to get into Sin and the cycle

I think with a lot of Final Fantasy games at least around the time, haven't played a lot of the modern ones. But you think they are brilliant stories and deep when you are a teenager, but then you come back to them and really look at them, they are pretty basic and wafer thin if you really think about it.

Final Fantasy is the epitome of the "I'm 14 and this is deep" meme.

I think psychologically there's always going to be something about a 1v1 environment that's off-putting to newcomers and casuals, where it's scary to put yourself in an arena with a bunch of scattered tools you don't know how to use and saying "good luck."

Like, I'm neck deep in Pokemon Champions right now which is ostensibly a 1v1 game against human players, and even I had to work up the courage to be put into a game where I had little idea what I was doing even with prior VGC knowledge and having "played" Pokemon for years (played in quotations because the single player campaign and competitive circuit are totally different beasts.)

This is the same person that talked about the need to man up and police areas of the community with assault rifles and body armor, just in case you forgot.
