Can only speak for myself, but even if I don't agree with everything you post I think the site is (much) better for you being here! I don't quote/reply to a lot of people because I have nothing to say, not because I find it unpleasant. Critical analysis and discussion can't happen if people aren't willing to talk about stuff or bring it up. Just be careful you don't burn yourself out because that can happen a lot with stuff you are passionate about, especially when we are discussing stuff that makes a standard heterosexual male uncomfortable since a lot of them can be dismissive at best and disrespectful otherwise, even if unintentional. I've got friends who were canvassing for Hong, and what I heard from them basically across the board was that anyone who actually wanted to talk policy was basically already for Hong or undecided but seemingly leaning her way. Anyone they ran into that was a Crowley supporter never had an actual policy reason for supporting Crowley, it was just the "he's more electable" Politics As Sport brain poison over and over again, every single time.

Which is truly depressing to see, the extent to which this election was basically swung by "better things aren't possible" centrist media, horrified by the prospect of a politician who actually stands for bettering material conditions for the population, poisoning people into voting for the empty suit that actually inspires no one that's going to have to pray that the tide of the national political environment drags him along to a victory.

It's absolutely a part of what is going on here. The other part is normal conspiracy theory garbage from VERY reactionary PC players. MaxDood mentioned as it feeling like the MvC 3 launch again with obvious issues that'll get fixed, which is unfortunate and absolutely true.

She [Amy Acton] has said she does not support transgender girls in girl's sports, apart from that she has not said anything as far as I know. That is an issue where most polling says, people are uncomfortable with it, last pew poll had it at 73% of Americans being opposed to it. I think similar to gay marriage, this will find acceptance slowly. And having to win a red-state like Ohio, I don't take any issue with her taking that position. Hell, the 2028 Dem nominee will also need a position on this that aligns with whatever the majority polling shows at that point in time.

But she will still be 10x better than Ramaswamy on LGBTQ issues for Ohio.

You might have missed the bits of the aftermath of that.

The Progressive Caucus in Ohio posted criticism of the candidate, which then suddenly disappeared, and it became evident from the statement that was released by the Progressive Caucus about why it was taken down was they got heavy threats from the Ohio Democratic Party for posting that criticism of Acton deciding to go full-on bigot.

Then Acton scheduled a meeting with LGBTQ advocates to try to calm down exactly how much everyone was pissed off at her. Except that when the meeting came up, something that was advertised to the participants as a meeting with the candidate to discuss what happened, she didn't show and just sent campaign staff, who then barred the vice chair of the party's Pride Caucus without explanation. But you don't need their explanation to understand why she was kicked out of the meeting the moment I tell you: the vice chair is a trans woman. Another participant asked for an explanation for barring the vice chair from the campaign staffers at the meeting, at which point she was ejected. They also blocked the chair of the Progressive Caucus from participating in the meeting.

She's decided to really embrace being a nasty bigot and the outcome of that race is going to be a heavy, heavy loss for transgender Ohioans regardless of the outcome.
