In fact, white men are the most socially acceptable ones to discriminate against. This one is especially telling in pushing the “nobody say anything bad or in disagreement with me!”. you don't have to be "out and proud," you could choose to "boymode" most of the time, use the appropriate bathroom, have your sex recorded on legal documents correctly, and no one anywhere will treat you any differently, none of your rights would be infringed upon any more than anyone else's are

the only reason to present as trans is (as stated by you) for your own satisfaction and pleasure

they try to make it seem more significant than that, that dysphoria is a deep and abiding sense of wrongness, but ultimately it's to achieve satisfaction

and there are a shitload of choices anyone might make to achieve satisfaction in public which will cause people to treat them differently/poorly, choices they don't have to make




now, the only real issue with this is noting that performing religion is also a choice, and we don't allow discrimination against those choices to some extent

I somehow don't have this (knock on wood) despite it being a common comorbidity with anhedonia / chronic illness. I do however have a bizarre and nightmarish disorder called Ocular OCD / Peripheral Vision OCD. In my case it's a trauma response but anytime someone enters my periphery one eye will lock onto said purpose and "stare." My eyes are incapable of saccadic movement in public because of it. I never know how evident or obvious it is so it becomes a spiral of hyperawareness, when I become self-conscious and try to correct it that just makes it worse, leading to more anxiety and being uncomfortable socially and then being self aware about that, and so on. CTPSD fucked my vision up in a lot of ways 😕

I get what you're saying. Toxic positivity sucks. Life is a total nightmare right now. I had to get a second job to afford some surgeries, but I don't complain to my friends endlessly. It gets old, and sometimes you just want to focus on the good so you don't end up killing yourself lol

Yeah. I'm currently on day 5 of an anxiety attack mixed with a crippling dysphoria episode so my entire internal equilibrium is effectively shattered. It makes it very difficult to focus on the positive, lol. I think the only times this past weekend I've been able to maintain any sense of internal normalcy have been when I've been watching TV, since it's just enough to distract my brain's internal trauma alarm from blaring klaxons throughout every inch of me. Even playing video games hasn't worked very well.

I think there is a difference between faking positivity and relentlessly focusing on negativity. I used to work with a guy in 2016-2020 who would, in every single conversation (including meetings where we were trying to get shit done) drag us all into talking about whatever horrific thing Trump did or said. This is the kind of behaviour that I have gotten sick of. Enumerating all the bad things in the world at every opportunity.

For sure. If someone keeps trying to tilt conversations into a specific topic that can get exhausting for sure. But the state of things in reality right now is so grim that I don't blame people who don't see much light left in the world. It's hard to find those moments when everything feels broken.
