I'm really not sure how a nickname like this is able to be accepted.

There’s pressure on the government to do something about it. To act effectively, we need to understand why some young people become Neet. Most explanations focus on things like exam results, family socioeconomic background or access to job opportunities.

Our new research points to something else shaping job prospects: whether a child has peers around them growing up.

A lot of people are saying...

Worse than fascist, Arabs are generally either theocratic or monarchist. Even Marx would have preferred fascists over those two doctrines.

Which it makes funnier how leftists try to not disparage those governments that are everything they hate. And the idea that the Arab diaspora may have some conservative opinions is too insulting to entertain (mind you, is also funny how the conservatives try say it’s incompatible while demanding a lot of the same shit but with the white Christian spin But that's none of my business... ).

In the end, that ends just infantilizing the community in the west as the left need to rationalize some of the most questionable and self defeating stuff (like Voting for Trump or their disdain for secularism).

I don’t expect them to do anything but is laughable the rationalization that “we are going to make some collector shit” Egomaniac

People used to mock when collection editions didn’t include the game (sometimes not even the fucking code).

The fact that a major publisher and developer is this clueless on “the why”, the why people care about the concept of owning games (and that they used to own GOG), is worrisome.

The all-digital crew has been insufferable lately. They're in every single thread related to Sony with their big-brain takes about how you don't really own your discs either because they'll become unplayable at the heat death of the universe and DRM-free downloads won't work because what if the server goes down and also every single backup gets deleted? So we may as well just give in and everything is fine.

The fact that most of them have Playstation avatars is probably unrelated.

And then... nothing. For years.

I genuinely didn't spend much time thinking about gender or trans stuff after that. Then, in 2024, I had another one of those moments and told my partner at the time that I thought I was a transwoman. Once again, I eventually convinced myself that I wasn't. To be fair, being in a relationship with a woman gives me a pretty strong sense of ....yeah, I'm definitely a dude.

Fastforward another couple of years and somehow I'm back here again.

I watched a show and something about the trans-related stuff in it got me thinking. Not in the "oh, maybe?" way this time, but more in the "wait... have I really been ignoring this for years?" way.

Because when I actually look back at my life, there are some things that suddenly make more sense.

So I guess that's where I'm at now.... I'm more convinced than I've ever been that I'm trans. Im in my mid 30s this year.

I'm really NOT happy about being trans, but at this point I'm pretty damn sure I am. Fuck me, I guess.

Any input is welcome. Im truthfully not really sure what to do...

Quote:Personally, I just can't get invested in GTAVI, I just don't care (and don't like Rockstar's style of gameplay or it's slice of both-siding irony poisoned centralist comedy) enough to get any hype and honestly, given that series long history of sexism (and Rockstar's own history of abuse and sexism), I simply do not want to give that series the benefit of the doubt or forgive it (that and I fully admit part and I fully realize it's petty but I'm so sick of the "Every other developer are cowards hiding away from GTA6's launch!", "GTA will kill X genre/game!" & "GTA6 will revolutionise the industry!" rhetoric over and over).

I realize I bring this up quite a bit, but it's really hard for me to forget the launch of GTA5 and the absolute nastiness and hate that was happening online at ANYONE who criticized that game's sexism, the worse by Gamespot's review by Carolyn Petit which resulted in weeks beyond weeks of transphobia, death threads and hate. I really we're going to see round two of that I really hope ERA doesn't turn into that.

I actually didn't come in here to talk about GTA, I was going discuss my frustrations with online discourse whenever a woman with authority of some sort, whether a reviewer, historians, YouTuber, critic, scholar etc criticizes (hell in some cases just discusses) a popular or hyped piece of media or a popular man, they are abused, mocked and treated in way we never see with men who do the same thing.

You see this with YouTubers all the time and sadly incredibly common on the left. YouTubers like HBomberguy and Folding Ideas can be snarky, mean and sarcastic etc, but the moment a women YouTuber does the same not even at the same level it's "you're being too mean!" Women reviewers especially get this bad. It still pisses me off the "Too Much Water; 7.8/10" Pokemon review became so normalized and treated as fun joke when it's so obvious it was attack on a woman reviewer for daring to criticize hyped Remakes; an absolute act of hypocrisy when Pokemon fans had been criticizing the Gen III games for doing for a decade and STILL do, including the remake; yet the moment a woman reviewer said it, it suddenly became mockery worthy, funny that. Can't imagine why! /s

The thing that set this off was the Emily Wilson Odyssey criticism backlash because it's hard not to notice how so much of the backlash has nothing to do with what she actually she said or why she said; it's all because she criticized a film people liked and a Director (and a man) they like so it's acceptable to attack and mock her. Women should know their place after all, women can NEVER criticize a man or anything popular, that's the rule /s.

No one is saying you can't disagree or criticize women; but so often in online (and offline) discourse it's never actually about that, it's all about the fact a woman, regardless of credentials or experience criticized a popular work or person, that's it, what she actually she doesn't matter besides taking out of context quotes to mock and attack her (and far worse). And like it's not a rightwing or chud thing, so many of the left do this the moment their favourite or thing their hyped for it criticized (or in some cases, perceived to being criticized) and will always get defend by "her tone was bad", "she was being too mean" etc; the abuse and mockery justified with "Yes but...". I've seen so often in review threads on this site that I am so done with it. That's not even getting into how popular male game devs and directors can be snarky, abrasive and say stuff like "You will be ashamed of your words and deeds" and it will get laughed off and treated as good or an eccentricity, but with women it's treated like the worse thing possible.

Sorry for the rant.

Here's what so funny about these kinds of posts to me: they really believe that a bunch of random dudes seizing one empty chamber of the Capitol for a few minutes is how you overturn elections.

Even the stupid Trumpian plot was based entirely around the fact that they were already in office and they believed Pence had complete unchecked authority to legally decide the election.

Like what do you think a fascist state that just falsified an election is going to do to a bunch of randoms trying to seize a chamber? In their fantasies the authoritarian state they dream about fighting against never does anything to punish them. Somebody just does something symbolic and then the people rise up and the fascists quit of their own accord.

It's your body. It's your life. It's your identity. You can take your time and figure out what that means for you. And don't let anyone else tell you that you have to present this way or transition that way to be who you are. It's you. It'll always be you.

I am really protective of people who are going through these early steps of self-realization because it's so damn scary to have this kind of awakening and then get an ONSLAUGHT of pretty, famous people on Instagram or other platforms moralizing to you about what YOUR life is supposed to mean to YOU. Healthy support systems are so important, and I don't think social media algorithms can give folks that. You need people who know you and care about you.
The best advice I can give a new person grappling with this stuff is to acknowledge that any information you get from another queer person is their story. It doesn't have to be yours. You figure out what works for you and you move forward with the information you can glean instead of convincing yourself that your narrative has to match someone else's.

Gotta learn to like yourself somehow. It's a struggle for everyone. Take your time, figure things out for yourself, don't let anyone push you one way or the other if you don't feel it's right for you.

Kyuuji, post: 159935287, member: 31943 wrote:First of all, take the time to process it. It's a pretty major thing to come to terms with once you accept it, particularly depending on your personal situation and what it may disrupt. So take your time, be kind to yourself (I mean this – it's easy to throw a lot at yourself), and give yourself the space to decide what (if anything) you want to do next. Access to healthcare varies a lot around the world, if HRT is something you decide you want to pursue. For many it's life changing (and saving) but your identity is who you are, not what you do.

For now it seems like you're in the wake of it hitting you and understanding it, so just letting it settle in your head and the ways it might contextualise things about you/your past is probably a good call. Then, when you feel ready, you can think about what it means for where you want it to lead to.

In either case, don't feel isolated in your feelings, they're very common. For a lot of trans people acceptance that what you've been feeling means you're trans is the last stop after trying to fit other answers around it. It's a challenging path for many, but living a life fully as yourself is a genuinely worthwhile place to get to (trans, non-binary, or otherwise).

nomemorial, post: 159935482, member: 11066 wrote:OP, reading this post feels like looking in a mirror at myself a few years ago. what you're expressing feels extremely similar to what i experienced.

i spent a good portion of my life wondering about my transness in some capacity, even when i didn't really have the words for it. in my childhood i would pray that "god would just make me a girl," but i didn't really learn about transitioning as an option until my early 20s when a musician i was a fan of very publicly transitioned. i felt an odd sense of kinship that i just didn't quite understand and i think some part of me knew at the time, but i was in a committed, long-term heterosexual relationship with a woman and figured "well, i'm probably just being silly and this will go away."

fast forward to my 30s and my dysphoria was just...boiling over. everyday felt like my consciousness was floating at a greater distance from my body. this sense of...*disconnect* that i couldn't shake. i took a few lonely nights at home while my partner was away or something to sit down and try my hand at a face of makeup (hell, i'm pretty sure i may have even shared those results on this forum at some point before i actually came out lol) and i think in that moment i knew. looking in the mirror, seeing myself, even in shitty, shaky makeup, felt like exactly that - seeing myself. and even then, i still shoved it away into my mental closet for another year or two.

when i finally came out, the moments leading up to it looked a lot like what you're describing here. i had started consuming a bit more media about being trans, perhaps even with the hope that hearing trans people talk about it, seeing them express their feelings, would convince me they were different from my own -- instead, i gained an even greater understanding of myself and countless things that had confused or frustrated me about myself through my life. i reached a point where i could no longer deny it (and ended up finally cracking over an accidental self-referential "her" in a journal entry that sent me into a spiral of "i can't run from this any more")

i didn't want to be trans. i told my friends, my family, my partner. "i don't want this!" i said over and over again those early moments; i felt helpless and like transitioning was the only option i had left to try and heal whatever i thought was wrong with my brain. transition was a means to an end.

i'm now a little over 2 1/2 years on HRT. my life looks a lot different from how it looked when i came out. i have lost a lot. but i have gained even more -- most importantly, myself. and i very quickly lost the disdain i held for my transness. transition is far and away the greatest decision i've ever made in my life. i feel like a new person. confident and vibrant and complete. i never, ever, in a million years thought i, the person i was (or rather, the person i thought i was) could be the person i am now. and i am thankful every single day that i took the plunge, as terrifying as it was (and sometimes still is).

The thing that helped me was *doing* something about it. Changing pronouns is a good start, but I would buy some feminine clothes. There's plenty of options available depending on your desires and needs - some tops are ambiguous enough that you might just look like a feminine dude, or people might not notice at all and it will just be for you (just go for a larger size than your masculine usual). Some dresses (even if you just wear them around the house) are cut and stitched in such a way that it looks like you have small boobs, even if you currently don't. Get some tights with a high denier rating, and you won't be able to see any body hair underneath. Grow your hair out, get your nails done! There's plenty you can do without it feeling like a huge commitment, that might make you feel tons better, or at least clarify things.

data center bullshit is almost entirely rooted in misinformation, as soon as you explain to people that there are potential benefits, they flip:

and there are in fact potential benefits:

https://netchoice.org/data-centers-101-how-are-data-centers-updating-community-infrastructure/

Quote:Loudoun County, home to the world’s largest concentration of data centers known as Data Center Alley,  offers the clearest before-and-after picture. In 2025, data centers were estimated to generate about $895 million in real and personal property tax revenue, a little over 95% of the county’s entire operating budget. That revenue has let the Board of Supervisors cut the residential property tax rate every year for a decade while still fully funding Loudoun County Public Schools, the Sheriff’s Office, and fire and rescue.

Here’s the number worth remembering: A 2026 fiscal analysis found that without data center revenue, the typical Loudoun homeowner’s property tax bill would have to rise by roughly $5,800 a year, a 91% increase, just to maintain current service levels. Unlike residential build-out, these facilities ask for almost little back in terms of public services. As county officials put it, they “don’t put kids in our schools” and “don’t put cars on our roads.” They pay in, but they don’t draw down.

Quote:Different companies, different states, same pattern: developers, not residential ratepayers, are increasingly footing the bill for infrastructure upgrades in the local communities that host them. Whether it’s a revenue formula in Ohio, a full-cost power agreement in Missouri, or watershed restoration in New Mexico, the through-line is the same. That through line is precisely the opposite of the “hidden costs dumped on neighbors” narrative manufactured to justify moratorium proposals across the country.

unfortunately, perception is reality, and there's a mania in the public that won't listen to reason, partly fueled by Chinese propaganda
