LARPing ruined gaming Twitter half a decade ago. Half of them are fake VSF fans who also LARP their love for Kojima, DMC, Persona, Yakuza and FF.

If you followed those people you would believe Street Fighter sells 30M copies per mainline game, while Horizon was a big flop (HZD sold more than SF5 + SF6 + SF4 combined). They spend their days talking about games they don't play for 5 likes per post. Those people are debating online and shaping the discourse around games they DO NOT PLAY. They are LARPing their love and their hate and that's the whole problem, they create false hype for games they will not buy and shit on things they have never touched.

I just reached out to the user in question to ask them to change their name.

Zero explanation of why that username was approved and zero punishment for using a tasteless username. These people see dogwhistles in everything and then an actual one comes along and they don't see it.

I'm not trying to downplay the transphobic episodes Matt and Trey have made, but there is a very clear difference between them and JK.

JK said some transphobic shit, got called out on it, doubled and tripled down, got called out on it again, and then decided to make her entire personality a Karen bitching about trans folk. She frequently donates to anti trans organizations, so supporting the Harry Potter franchise can theoretically be considered supporting anti trans propaganda and legislation, particularly in the UK.

Matt and Trey are just edgelord libertarians who don't give a shit about anything.

They are a far cry from being allies, but they are, at this point in time, miles better than Rowling.
