Quote:Because the conservative movement has spent the time since the Civil Rights era dismantling and attacking any grassroots political movement that has a hint of leftism to the point that the Government is throwing people in prison for 30+ years for moving magazines
Wait until this guy finds out what else the government throws people in prison for transporting ACROSS STATE LINES with full support of the "left." Society

Quote:One of the biggest issues is that we've removed almost all of the social safety nets in this country, so if you lose your job, you lose everything. It keeps people from doing things that may affect their employment.

Oh, and in a lot of states you can be fired at any moment for no real reason.

Yep. This trends very closely to the erosion of all protections of workers and social safety nets.
Quote:Lack of social safety nets, decades of labor rights erosion, rampant misinformation campaigns and unchecked corporate lobbying to keep movements scattered, weak, and easily defeated.
Why do they always say this when the welfare state is bigger and includes more people than it ever has? ???

I swear they literally think that in like 1955 there was cradle to the grave living wage welfare provided for everyone.

Quote:This, plus a media environment that pushes conservative agendas plus both major political parties being largely against collective action.

Our country is ruled by oligarchs and union busters who do everything they can to quash any attempt to assemble or force change.
Isn't this what you want? The state to monopolize everything and limit entry points for outsiders? ???

Quote:Doesn't help when the controlled opposition in the democrats go heavily after students opposing their genocidal colonial projects in occupied Palestine. Most protests tend be youth led and it's no coincidence that the response to trump 2.0 is so much more muted this go round.
Girlslaff

Quote:Ironically given our land of the free motto, there's a subconscious fear of the government and big corporations having absolute control and surveillance. You functionally need your job to have health care, so there's immense fear that rocking the boat, even legally, will leave you stranded with nothing.
I literally don't know what America these people live in. Every second of every day is someone "rocking the boat" and bringing frivolous (and occasionally justified) lawsuits. Their own forum is full of these, especially trans games developers accusing their employers of discrimination and Era never following up to see if the case got dismissed. Social media, and so Era, is about little else than people yelling about something they don't like no matter how unjustified their opinion. Every other Era thread is screaming about demanding the police do something about something.

Quote:Yanks don't like sacrificing their comforts.

They have Nazi concentration camps at their doorsteps but spend most of their life moaning on TikTok.
It is admittedly hard to get anywhere with all the camps these days.

Quote:I'm not sure about the Occupy movement, but the meetoo, women's march, and BLM movements were made less impactful once the messages were watered down, co-opted, or commoditized to sell pink pussy hats. Then Blue Lives Matter and AllLivesMatter. A lot of those women became Tradwife bloggers and Trump voters. White feminism is a huge problem in the US because black women organizers are historically one of the most powerful groups of resistance you could have on your side, but intersectional invisibility exists to undo progress once it gains steam by masses.

Example: Meetoo was and is very very important and was necessary. Its a line I'm not willing to toe to criticize any woman ever, but the reality is, I remember the mee too movement being led by a black woman and didn't gain traction until white victims came forward. Then poof to that origin story.

"And they are shouted down by 0.5 per cent in a population who are male and who think that because they put on a dress, and they put on make-up, that that makes them a female."
"People have lost their careers over that," says Charlie. "[Graham] Linehan was the obvious one. None of his pals stood up for him. I wouldn't agree with everything Linehan says any more than I would do with JK Rowling," he continues of the Harry Potter author, whose vociferous support of women's rights, like Linehan's, has led to her being pilloried by the trans lobby. "But you've got the right to stand up for science and logic. And in his case, it's a tragedy. He lost his career for telling the truth."
They insist that they say this not with bile. "It's incredulity at a lot of what's going on," clarifies Craig, although he will allow that their views could be a function of age. "Anybody, as they get older, maybe that [feeling] does take over. You don't understand the way that the world is now the way that you did before. Maybe that's true. But some of the stuff I see now, it's laughable."

Quote:"But you've got the right to stand up for science and logic."

The better part is the first sentence. Occupy and BLM had no message to water down or co-opt, so this never happened. They literally spent their existence attacking anyone asking them to establish a message and people like Era defended it and said there was no need for a movement to have a purpose other than vague symbolic opposition to "bad things" in general.

#MeToo was pretty similar, remember how they spent years telling us to never question any woman or accuser about anything? Just blindly believe them and do whatever they want. "Innocent until proven guilty is a dangerous ideology" and so on. That's not a "message" let alone sustainable.

And they continue to do this to today, because it's fundamentally impossible to follow their belief system. Because they're all narcissists they fervently believe it's possible to have a mass movement based around everyone's personal desires without contradiction. "Everyone just has to agree with me on everything!" So there will never be a mass movement versus near random seeming idol worship as happened with Occupy, BLM, Bernie, "Free Palestine" (without any actual meaning to this), Hasan, etc. where half the "movement" or more finds any reason to not participate. (For example, that Bernie was white.)

I mean, BLM refused to ever agree on if we're abolishing the police or just defunding them.

Of course Echoes crashed out over the “fans who don’t play the games” thread.  lol  Asking someone to actually play a game to form an opinion on it is now "gatekeeping".

Quote:If you are someone who has played a good amount of games in your life, you do not, in fact, necessarily need to have actually played controller in hand to form an educated opinion about a game. Also, after watching for a while, you are able to form a sound opinion about the design and gameplay of a game. Depend of the genre, depend of the type of game, case-by-case scenario... but yes, as far as narrative AAA goes for example, I do believe watching a full walkthrough will often give you enough tools to have good conversations about a game as someone who played it, unless we are talking about very specific professional-level game designer conversations that no fans are normally having.
Brother these people are legit dysfunctional.  "I've watched a lot of movies; therefore, I can just base my opinion on this new film based on twitter reactions and vibes"  Smug

Begging Era to find out there's ways to politically participate or "make a stand for their rights and advocate for themselves" other than just voting straight-ticket or arming up and getting in the streets to look for victims.

Every single post on the most important topic that can exist on that forum is constantly framed with "I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas."

Dude, GTA and the rest of the "mature" games are designed to appeal to teenagers. Always have been. If you're an adult and think there's anything "adult" about video games, you might be the biggest retard on the bire.
