Quote: What an absolute turd. It's pathetic sites like Gaming Bolt gave this a 10 though. Obviously on the payroll. A 10 is something you give to a game that truly exceeds every expectation you have and sets a new bar in the genre. And then the Sony fanboys who are saying "oh well I dont believe the hater reviews, they have anti Sony bias"

Looking to upgrade my TV from a C8 OLED 55" from 2018 to a new model.
VRR/120hz makes quite a difference in fluidity for gaming on Switch 2. There are a bunch of good deals for 2025 TV's as well. What I'm not sure about is staying at 55" or upgrading to 65". I think it would feel more like a real upgrade if I get the bigger one. The 2025 65" model is also the same weight as the 55" model, meaning I can use the same mount. playing OOT remake @120hz on a 65" OLED ![]() Not buying all the collectors editions, trading in old games and only playing games on Switch 2 so no PC upgrades is saving me quite a bit of money. AI sold me on a Panasonic 4k blu-ray player. Expensive but worth it for the collection. Not to mention not as noisy as the Xbox, it has Dolby Vision support and 100GB+ discs won't freeze which has been a problem with these longer films. 3 users liked this post: filler, Polident, who is ted danson?

I’m accepting that I’ll never end up going to TGS. This year I was committed, despite everybody telling me it sucks ass. Stuck with two scheduled appointments happening before and after. Fuming how I can’t stand in a five hour line to try the Crazy Taxi demo, then stand in a crowded train home for an hour and half.

65" is €1399 but that is without a special discount. Usually these guys give an additional discount because they have great margins on these TV's.
Every time I was surprised how good the deal was. The 77" is €2599. The value isn't as good. 2 users liked this post: filler, who is ted danson?

There’s a good chance I’ll end up upgrading my TV in America next time I head back. It is a little crazy considering the time spent there versus here. But I’m pretty sure it was a 2017 LG OLED and it is showing its age. Not the lack of VRR or capped to 4k 60hz etc. I think the OLEDs are getting less bright to where I needed to crank up the backlight setting to max and it can still be too dark.
That said, my TV here is a 2025 LG OLED and it isn’t a stark difference. LCD to OLED felt meaningful. Almost ten years later, it is refinements to OLED and no huge advances. 3 users liked this post: Nintex, who is ted danson?, filler

Yep that's the general consensus on image quality although from 2025 forward the brightness has seen a huge uptick

C5: €1299 but he said those were the last ones and the stock was running low. It launched at €2499 last year.
G5: €1645 it launched at €3299 last year. G6: €1999 it launched at €2999 earlier this year. Plus a €150 cashback so that brings it down to €1849 I was leaning towards the C5 and a friend pretty much agreed it was best value for money but my brother says I should get the G6. ![]() Pretty much the same path at last time. I was looking at a C7 but then the C8 suddenly came very close in price and was the best value. 1 user liked this post: who is ted danson?

Asked to confirm and at 22:37 the guy mailed back
Absolutely it's 1999 and you get the cashback. My C8 was 1988,- 8 years ago. Same guy that sold it to me. Reviews boil down to "this is the best TV yet" not even color banding in gradients. 1 user liked this post: who is ted danson?

Tried a few things on the G6. It did take a while to get the HDMI port to recognize the Switch 2.
First Mario Kart World to get the settings right which was quite easy as most things are calibrated by default. Daisy's butt has never been so tight and the skies never so bright. The colors pop from the screen like you wouldn't believe. I was shocked at the difference between my old LG OLED C8. The uniformity, clarity and brightness are incredible. So much that I finally unlocked her Oasis costume. Next up was Cyberpunk 2077 which runs well enough in the 30fps "quality" mode but if you have a 120hz display you can use the 40fps performance mode. This makes the game run incredibly smooth. It's some kind of black magic but it works beautifully. To test the low input lag claim there is only one game that fits the big beautiful bill. F-Zero GX. It is so twitchy and requires such precision that you can hardly afford a steering mistake. Finally I can play it almost as well as I did on GameCube with a CRT back in the day. Mostly because I don't have a GameCube Switch 2 controller and only 4 starting machines and most of those apart from the Wild Goose suck. I'm now downloading some Switch 2 Edition upgrades I never got around to like Zelda BOTW+TOTK to see what that looks like and tonight I'll probably start on Fire Emblem. 1 user liked this post: who is ted danson?

Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave - 89
Ace Combat 8 - 87 Trails in the Sky 2nd - 91 The Witcher 3: Remastered - 94 Are video games back? My bro did say CONTROL Resonant is a little dissapointing. I might pick up Ace Combat 8 on friday, it'll probably look great on the G6. |
