But this is the crux of the issue with millionaire mansion-dwelling twitch streamers becoming the "voice" of particular sides of the political spectrum.. it just gets kinda messy

Hasan is one of the few topics on REEE where you can regularly make fun of/criticize, make the discord members really mad and not get banned for it. Jeff and his ilk have tried really hard to make Hasan slander a bannable offense under "downplaying genocide" and "islamophobia" (thedisruptor is shamelessly jumping to it as if he has any power over B-Dumbs) and succeeded in some cases but never to extent as other topics where users have to walk on eggshells to post in. Sexy videogame women threads catch more bans than the average Hasan Piker thread.

The thread is funny because it's like

"hey, we need to signalboost this convo for hasan!"
"uh, Hasan says that if al-qaeda and the US were of equal size and military strength, the US is still worse"
"WOW GEEZ getting all into the specifics about hyperfocused tiny phrases, here we go again! I wanted people to listen to what Hasan has to say, not actually pay attention to his words doofus!...and actually he's right anyway *looks around nervously*"

Also I never get tired of a bunch of people who live in the general west being simultaneously believing and reiterating that they reside in the belly of th great satan, the most evil force that has ever moved upon the firmament, and then be like "but I got work early tomorrow and gotta camp this Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 preorder page, so someone else will need to handle that."

"Why are you focusing so much on what Hasan said 😭"

One non-dubs poster is like "oh well, it looks like Hasan corrected his comments and walked it back, so that's good I guess".

Then another poster is like "Ok you're always saying this? Why do you need everyone to know Hasan corrected himself? Why is that so important to you? You're obsessed!"

Very normal reactions all around.

Anyway I'm gonna go check for updates in the Bire's dedicated Hasan Hate Thread that bears my own name.

They expect everyone to treat Hasan with streamer kid gloves despite him trying to use his audience and influence to engage in politics. "Clip chimping" is part and parcel with being in the modern US political arena.
m_shortpants wrote:People going to be clipping him like crazy for that
Yeah, in the real world, this is the content of a vast majority of attack ads.  lol

Is Hasan a political agent trying to play kingmaker or a streamer just trying to entertain? Why does he try so hard to ride that line? That alone reveals his real motives, imo.

Rodderick, post: 160728964, member: 5775 wrote:"America has actually killed more people than Al Qaeda!" as a defense of his real argument is classic motte and bailey. Yes, that is factual. But that is also factual for more than a hundred countries. Any superpower, even regional ones, by definition will affect more people's lives than a terrorist group. You can criticize the US' history of terrible atrocities abroad without making this sort of moral equivalency, otherwise I start to wonder why a guy so concerned with overall death tolls would cosplay as Mao Tse Tung. Not to mention the obvious: maybe don't latch yourself to campaigns and then publicly state that America is worse than Al Qaeda. Not helping anyone there.

Rodderick, post: 160729147, member: 5775 wrote:That it's meaningless. "Higher death toll = worse" isn't a criteria that anyone would use. It's obfuscation. Hasan is a classic campist, he believes America is the world's greatest evil and shows endless sympathy for whichever country or group can be propped up as an adversary to the US' hegemony. That's the real argument he's making.

A cunt like this should just get insta banned. Like nothing about this has to do with Islam and yet he cries about islmaophobia. Pretty sure it's the same cunt who implied that the teacher who was beheaded in France had it coming

Everything I have heard and seen from this guy speaks of someone that failed upwards and gets a free pass because his looks.

A intelligent person would have killed the shock collar rumor immediately (he didn’t because it was true and didn’t know how to spin it) and a good hearted person will not continuously lie about that and his role spreading political talking points.

Everyone in the thread now: "actually, 'higher death toll = worse' IS totally a legitimate way to measure overall moral goodness of an entity!"

Suddenly Al Qaeda is in the 90th percentile of all organizations that have ever existed in world, measured by Goodness (where Goodness = inverse of total # of deaths caused)

He pops off from time to time and says something overly inflammatory, and he ignores certain topics or issues, but overall he speaks truth to power and checks all his sources. Certainly not where you can say that all surrogacy is human trafficking, which I think does a great disservice and is actually quite offensive to victims of true human trafficking. Women and children who are kidnapped and sold into sex slavery.

I say that as someone who does question some of the morality behind surrogacy but we're also talking about women choosing to do something with their own bodies. The idea that every woman who chooses to be a surrogate is doing so because they are poor and being taken advantage of is false. One of my mother's best friends was a surrogate and was absolutely not doing it because she desperately needed the money.

Every situation is different, so we should be careful about throwing out wildly presumptive takes for what is a very complicated topic.

Remember that people can discuss and accept new points of view without the self righteous asshole preaching to everyone. That was usually the accepted modus of doing things.

Even better, they're saying that streaming 8 hours a day, 6 days a week turns someone's brains to mush and you have to automatically expect to disregard and forgive the many retarded things that the streamer will certainly say.

Wait, why are we defending this as a valuable and worthwhile method of earning a living and/or contributing to

How about if you cannot have a baby... then don't have a baby? It's not a life and death situation that you have to exploit somebody else to have it in your behalf. Plenty of people can't have kids and they just don't. Perhaps get some other kid off foster care at least?
