Holy cow… I'm over here year after year, decade after decade just waiting for Sonic to shine like a Mario title again. I just always assume it's going to be there no matter how futile Sonic Teams effort. I guess I took the whole situation for granted. The idea that even 1 higher up was pushing to retire the series just doesn't compute. At the same time, it makes total sense.

My wish is that Nintendo acquired Sonic and those old Sonic Team members(now at Nintendo) get a hand in making Sonic revered again.

  

I'm not surprised. Sonic as a franchise has succeeded in spite of Sonic Team. I was pretty confident that the Sonic movies would end up a hit just because everything but the core of it tends to be - cartoons, comics, crossovers, fan games (and I would lump Sonic Mania in with those).

I can imagine being disheartened and even embarrassed with the franchise if you're putting out Sonic Forces when Nintendo is putting out Super Mario Odyssey.

Dumb question:

Say you have to choose between a white Zimbabwean vs a black north american, which one do you pick for "representation"?

My wife is African, and she's white. She's also certainly a lot more african than most african americans. Should we consider her a diversity choice because she's factually african with two or three centuries of ties to Africa? Or would she be excluded from a "representation" casting because she's white?

I'm genuinely curious, since these conversations always seem to portray people as if their skin colour is the only thing that matters when discussing "representation".
