Part of the problem we've had is that, early in the site's life, that there were various groups of people who thought trying to burn the place down if they didn't get their way was acceptable behavior. Like Nepenthe says, those types are largely gone at this point and things are a lot more chill as a result. There are people who left as a result of that crap, as a result of the insane stress, who would be shocked at how much calmer things are these days. That said, a lot of moderators, probably myself included, have a lot of emotional trauma from some of the crap you all put us through over the years.

Not going to lie, there was a lot of assholes, bigots, control freaks, and toxic personalities that needed pruning in those early days. Most of you will never know the extent to which some of these people were toxic, there's shit I found out about that still keeps me up at night sometimes. Truly reprehensible shit I seen over the years.

I imagine some people will take your side if you were more more open about those people than silently banning or lepering them, and they come back like nothing happened to tell us about how they used to shit their pants at grade school.

Shortest movie I ever saw was Blair Witch 2 and it was maybe 75 minutes with credits. I had to piss halfway through so I didn't enjoy about half the movie. I didn't piss myself that time though.

Can you imagine the mental strain it must be to be a mod on Era? I mean seriously. Just think about it. Sometimes it's cool on Era and then there's other days where's there's drama and chaos. Most of us are just regular posters. We ain't gonna deal with discussing whether a thread should be locked or a topic should be banned or other serious stuff. The mods and other staff actually gotta deal with that stuff. Just imagine the mental pressure that is. I'm a simple guy. My brain just melts just thinking of it lol

I appreciate the reminder that I am, in fact, a human being with thoughts and feelings behind this account haha. Although I will actually say I feel like the forum by and large has calmed down. We haven't had any large issues or flare-ups in awhile that have gotten out of control, and that's due in part to both staffers and members. We've clarified many of the major rules and found methods of working that are consistent and sensible, and members have done very well in reporting issues, approaching us with respect, and honestly just self-regulating themselves (It's as I say; the majority of people here are just here to hang out and post versus start trouble or try to assert themselves in a presumed pecking order). Once the bad actors who are trying to come at staff's throats are removed, things are largely civil! Who would've thought?!

It's not just kiwifarms and 4chan. You can be leftwing and be a totally toxic dipshit. This is what people don't seem to get and how a lot of these people are able to hide in plain sight.

I can't believe the staff are gaslighting us and claiming things are better when things have never been more transphobic on ResetERA.com. The staff aren't just refusing to protect trans lives but they're outright telling us to be happy about how every page of the forum is covered in hate. This is why the trans community is either leaving in droves or shitting itself.

I don't think it's that deep - as an Asian male, who is very underrepresented in Western media, I want to play as someone that looks like me, and while Yasuke is a win for Black representation and I love that for people, that's one less game that would star someone that looks like me (which for a game set in Japan you would normally think would be an easy opportunity for that).

While I get the concern, I'm worried it might delve into the Min Min vs. Twintelle discourse (to put it lightly) when the former was announced for Smash. I feel like if the Kunoichi was an Asian guy, there'd be fewer concerns.
