Just saw it. I honestly thought it was really joyous, with a fun team and some really imaginative scenes. The character interactions are some of the best parts of this, as well as a villain who was a bit undercooked but had that touch of sympathy that made her work. This bombing will suck, because it deserves more.

Anyone who's sending hate, threats, or anything of the nature to him can fuck off. I also don't personally condone people explicitly tagging him in tweets to make sure he sees their criticism-- in my eyes, that's also a form of harassment, unless it's genuinely constructive criticism (which it almost never is, and even then, that sort of thing is hardly ever actually wanted from strangers on the internet).

But.

On a general, baseline level, I do not feel bad for the poor reception his performance as Kiryu is getting. "Company replaces fan-favorite character's voice actor with a new actor who does a bad job" is the exact kind of negative, clickbait-driven thing he would make a video about. People not taking well to his performance is just karma, in my eyes.

Again, anyone harassing him sucks, and I hope he doesn't let that get to him. But maybe / hopefully the more general reception to his performance will get him to rethink his YouTube strategy and try to do some actual good with his platform, rather than just spouting negativity for the sake of views, now that he's on the other end of this kind of situation.
