After decades of Batman fans being like "Yeah Batman's not like that" to all the people offering the same tired critique of Batman caring more about his toys than about Gotham, DC finally created a Batman that is like that lmao.

...but explicitly as a non-canon re-imagining, as you yourself noted, highlighting the fact that batman is NOT like that...

and potentially misunderstands the whole thing, because it's in batman's best interest to make people think bruce wayne doesn't really care about the poor, so that no one would ever suspect that someone as awful as bruce wayne could be batman
