The only reason I went to the local college was to get my city & guild’s certificate to become an electrician. I wasn’t smart enough to make it into the white collar world so I had to learn a trade. One thing I do remember throughout all my school years is that copying was bad, and if you got caught it was automatic expulsion. When I did my exams it was drummed in to us that we had to use citations and highlight the sources we got our data from. That was just the div, no hoper, army fodder level. So what I’m wondering is how the fuck does someone who becomes a Harvard professor somehow miss the part that an academic failure like me got drummed into them.

I mean, the whole story is less about plagiarism and more about whether she was promoted because of the colour of her skin and her work in the DEI field rather than for having any administrative or academic qualifications.

Did your supervisor roll his eyes or give you the stink eye? Did he say it in a snarky way? Did he giggle like a little shit afterwards? You should be looking at the nonverbal cues when he said that.

Nah it was a conservative activist and a journalist that broke the story. I guess after the congressional hearing they ran her published work through the kind of plagiarism detection software that wouldn't have existed 25 years ago and got some hits.
