A new Star Wars movie was announced a while ago. In it, Rey, the least likeable character from the shitty sequels, is going to build a new Jedi order. The film is being directed by a woman who has some quotes from 8 years ago being taken out of context which are upsetting the retards. The other retards are getting up in arms because woman+diversity=best Star Wars film evaaaarrrr!!!!! Everyone else is eating popcorn because Disney killed Star Wars and now the vultures are eating its corpse.

there's actually important context missing from that quote...it's an old interview from when she was making a documentary exposing honor killings in pakistan, men who think it's fair to kill women for the sin of having allowed themselves to be assaulted by men, and she wanted to make THOSE men uncomfortable

The whole "It's about time Star Wars is directed by a woman" thing means different things depending on your ideology.

The left thinks industries are ignoring women's credentials to not hire women, while the right thinks industries are ignoring women's credentials to hire them.

If you believe the left that qualified women are passed over because of their sex, the "it's about time they hire a woman" sentiment is a restorative force, moving the industry back to focusing on credentials instead of denying someone because of their sex.

If you believe the right that all the DEI initiatives are hiring unqualified people because of their sex/etc., then that same sentiment is a corrosive force, further removing credentials as a factor and instead hiring because of their sex.

It's easy to read the opposing side as wanting sexism to be the norm, but in fact, most people (except Nep and co.) want -isms gone and merit to be the deciding factor, but because they're operating from two different underlying assumptions about the current state of things, they come off thinking the other guy just wants evil.

I'm not one to lecture people but if you guys are going to try to convince people who are closely affected by what's happening in Palestine, you should at the very least employ empathy–if you are incapable, use chatgpt–and not use "sure your people are dying but think of everyone else!" as an argument. You're essentially telling them their people are a sacrifice for the greater good. And then the question just becomes why does the "greater good" constantly and neverendingly come at the expense of PoC.
