In the medical field, it's becoming clearer that COVID is to be seen more like HIV/AIDS than a "regular flu." I'll share one source off the top of my head because you likely want me to back up what I'm saying. And you asked; it's only fair that you don't take "tales from my ass" here. I am not saying it is like HIV/AIDS in that one infection is a dangerous death sentence without lifetime immunosuppressants or the like. But I am saying it's more like that with social and holistic considerations of the human organism in mind.

Just some things to note here that I don't believe that paper mentions, every time you get COVID, it "stacks"; you never completely get it out of your system. Increasing risks of exposure increases risks of long COVID, a form of long term or even permanent damage to your body. These are not the conditions of a "regular respiratory virus." You getting the flu every year doesn't put you at risk of neurodegenerative conditions as the most popular "risk" of long COVID. Besides HIV/AIDS, can you name another vascular condition you want to avoid all risk of if possible? That's the most modern and largest example we can compare COVID and its risks to. I am not saying they're the same but they are similar in many respects. You should be doing everything in your power to not get exposed, even once.

I cannot think of a flu that damages your muscles and skeletal structure wherein you actually hurt your body if you exercise, this in no way is something that is now "just another respiratory illness."

The truth is that we're all scared of what is potentially coming: Trump becoming a dictator, an escalation in the attacks on trans individuals, his promise to put Hispanic-Americans into camps if he thinks they're illegals, repealing the affordable care act and denying those of us with preexisting conditions or medical disabilities the ability to get care and live our lives, and all the other horrific stuff he has promised to do. The truth is we're all, from those who go on about how they refuse to vote to those begging others to do so, all of us, lashing out in fear and anger at each other in the vain hope that our anger and frustration alone will sway a tide that can only be beaten back by working together.

I'm not going to tell anyone not to be afraid, I'm terrified. I'm not going to tell anyone not to be angry, I'm angry. I'm just saying, there's legitimate reasons someone might want to sit this one out and it sucks and is scary but it's on Biden to do better and turn it around. None of us here can fix it. People from the Middle East are caught between a rock and a hard place here and, so long as nothing changes, that squeeze they're in is only going to get worse as we get closer to election day.

Note: none of this applies to dudes who just want stuff to get worse in the hope there's some revolution that gives them what they want. Those guys are horrible assholes who just want to watch the world burn.

I can't wait until post election when Ree posters complain about anyone who didn't vote and B-dubs is forced to start banning them.
