Licenses for games that require internet access are like buying a lifetime pass for an amusement park, you have full access to it as long as it is operational. It is not feasible to require every single game to support an offline mode or a private server backend.

Whilst it is a different scenario, I remember my dad telling me he touched a live railway line as a kid and it apparently threw him backwards and he went through a wooden fence. I don't believe he was lying about it (he didn't make stories up since he relied on fun ones that actually happened) so it seems possible in certain circumstances.

When I was a teen I attended a hybrid trade high-school. My trade was computer tech and electronic repair. We learned how electricity works, the math behind it and basically how to repair electronics, appliances, and all sorts of other stuff. The reason I bring this up is because one day I found myself working on an old crt TV. I didn't give enough time for the capacitor to discharge all the way and basically almost killed myself. The sudden jolt sent me reeling back into a wall.

A toaster doesn't have a transformer or anything, so the worst you're going to get is 120V. It's trivial unless you're standing in a pool of water or some such. I've probably gotten a 120V shock a dozen times.

Do not, under any circumstances, fuck around with a microwave. They crank the voltage into the 10k+ range and will fuck you up. Had a buddy who had to get cpr after a scare with a magnetron in the EE lab at school.

I must bring this up. What "whitewashing" is even happening in this post? This was a well thought-out, detailed and patiently written post that warrants engagement even if I don't agree fully with the message. This ban does not seem at all consistent at all how moderation has claimed to be approaching political discussions going into this election season. Which in this case appears to outright detest any sort of discussion in the first place.

This is an exercise in pathetic moderation that is increasingly making it clear that Era as a community does not value nuance or pragmatism with regards to geopolitics. If that's ban worthy or whatever so be it, but I truly hope the staff here recognizes just how dangerously simple they are being when they make decisions like this from the hip.
