To be perfectly clear, I hate the Rainbow Pride flag on a personal level. It's not my flag(s). The Progress Pride flag is better, but I really hate it being shotgun blasted by corporations that don't care or don't want to take the time to acknowledge specific identities.

It's like the press using 'LGBTQ+" when talking about specific characters with canon identities. No one person represents the entire community.

This is all a roundabout way for me to talk about how much I hate 'lesbian" being a dirty, dirty word that no one should use. $50 says 95% of the people at Naughty Dog would say that Ellie is "queer" or "gay" but not acknowledge her as a lesbian. Then again, it's not like queer joy and Pride is a big element of The Last of Us. The only use of labels in Part II are derogatory at worst and prescriptive at best. Ellie wearing any kind of Pride shirt is very out of character for how she is written.

Also I still really hate Part II after all these years.

Lesbian is still the most socially accepted part of the whole LGBTQ thing. Always was, always will be. What isn't socially accepted is straight men claiming lesbian privilege because they declare themselves to be women.

With all due respect to people's lifestyle choices, which I couldn't care less about, don't they see how insanely complicated they've made the whole thing with a billion different categories and flags and all that, and if you were to get the character's specific categorization wrong (is she a lesbian? Pan? Demi? Bi?) they will never let you live it down. So using LGBTQ+ as a catch all seems like the only rational way to refer to someone's non-CIS sexuality, no?
