I just don't get how no one in the dev team, from artists to marketing, goes hmm maybe we should tone it down a bit? And then that same ignorance gets a wholesale endorsement from Sony.

Like I know why it happens but I just don't understand. I would be so embarrassed to work on that game, promote that game, or seen to be a fan of that game.

If you try to tone it down, you might be deemed as "feminist" and certain misogynist fans will start a witch hunt, finding any women related to the game to target. That's what happened with Project Moon and Limbus Company, when the wetsuit for a female character wasn't sexy enough.

Yeah the Stellar Blade thread is absurd, so many people in a hurry to tell everyone how much they're looking forward to that trash.

In the last page of that thread, there are two posters who joined in 2019 but neither have even 50 posts. Some feel enough shame to hide their excitement behind fake accounts it seems. Or they're just trolls, whichever. Doesn't help that the rest of the thread was still overall positive.

After watching the trailer and then reading the thread, it was like I was on another site for a disturbing portion of it. Idgaf about the game in and of itself (not my bag, stylistically) but I was surprised by the amount of folks who were totes ok with obvious male gaze pandering in it.

It almost feels like tradition that whenever someone highlights the toxicity behind certain devs/games, their post is instantly followed by a rando going "Looks sweet. Day One!". Happens so often.

I genuinely wish I could just talk to whatever person at Sony signed the publishing deal with that studio and ask them "Why the fuck did you think this was okay?"

I've been trying to remind people about the developers' misogyny for like a year and a half now and people just ignore me every time I try. It's so frustrating.

It makes it too personal and they can't be impartial moderators, which is obvious to any neutral observer.

To put it bluntly, we do not give a shit, nor two shits, about who your favorite users are. If someone crosses a line, they will receive the same punishment as any other user. If you feel like your buddy is inching close to that line, it's on you to tell them "hey, dude, maybe tone it down a bit," if they aren't learning from their previous infractions on the site. We do not care if they are the person in your Discord that leaks the most information, provides the most insight, or helps the most people out - if they cannot control their behavior on ResetEra, then they will receive the same punishments as the users before them. We also are not oblivious to brigading. When a user from a Discord gets banned, we definitely see an influx of users that we know are a part of that Discord suddenly flood reports and tickets with appeals or not-subtle messages on what we can do with our mothers. For those of you submitting those, you certainly aren't helping your/their case. It just shows us that you're stuck in some sort of cult of personality and, let's be frank, we don't care about your cult.

There is literally no incentive for us to make shit up. If we put a banner on someone's post where they are banned, stating "prior infractions for X," then that's because we are acknowledging a pattern. If you have to sit back and wonder whether we are making shit up or not, please ask yourself, "why am I doing this? And what has gone so wrong in my life where I'm worried about whether or not the people running a fucking video gaming forum are being truthful or not?" You don't need to know. There has to be a level of trust where you assume we are actually acting in a way that benefits us all. We don't "win" if the site shuts down. We don't "win" if the site is overrun with Nazis. You think I want to spend weeks each year making sure the GOTY, or any other event we end up running during the years, is up to snuff because I hate you all? I mean, sure, there are a few users I hate, but they know who they are, and I appreciate them being normal members of society for the past year or so. But what the fuck? We have nothing to gain by alienating the majority of the uers! Why the fuck would we do anything that makes you go "oh, wow, staff is suddenly supporting bigotry."

Seriously. We have no reason to make up shit. Yes, there may be escalations of bans where you are not privy to the entire history, but I promise you we aren't just making shit up. We don't have the time, nor the mental wherewithal to fucking do that.

I'm freaking out and so frustrated right now. I picked her up early for an appointment but late in the day apparently a kid was showing his friends a gun and was "showboating". The school called the police per protocol, the police investigated and then said there was no longer a threat. My friend learned that the student was not in custody.

I know the school will be vague about things which is highly frustrating but it's a legal thing. My wife works as a social worker and she says the school will and cannot tell us if another student is expelled. I don't feel comfortable sending my daughter back until I know the student is expelled - but my wife counters with "even if he was what would stop him from just coming to school anyway with the gun".
