We know what happens. The stores lose profit. They close down. Unemployment rises. Other stores start pulling out. The people who relied on those stores are forced to travel to get what they need. Meanwhile the neighbourhood starts going to shit. House prices collapse as people move away. So less tax revenue coming in. Less money for services. Rising poverty. Rising crime. 

What happens to the shareholders? They sell all their shares. Collect their bonuses. Invest in something else and never look back. That's what happens to the shareholders.

I was going out the supermarket once behind this junkie and the alarm went off. Security pounced on him and I kept walking no really thinking anything about it. When I got in the van and looked at the receipt I saw I hadn’t scanned the bottle of Jack Daniels. Thought about going back but nah, free booze.

Think the reason why these guys are nut jobs is from lacking any individual beliefs and falling head first into ideologies full of inconsistencies and contradictions. If questioned, the instinct is to lash out, like a child caught in a lie. Humans who can’t pass the voight kampff.

Hello - to me it feels like many political threads are becoming unreadable due to everything being drowned out by single issue Gaza members. I'm using the Biden Seth Meyers thread as an example right now but you can see it whenever Biden is mentioned. I went to the thread to see thoughts on how Biden comes across on his age, and to try to get a realistic bead on what to expect this election, but it's just shouting about that one specific issue. It feels like any time Biden is mentioned this thing happens. It's hard to discuss other issues that are also important because the Gaza conflict sucks up all the oxygen. I'm not sure what I'd recommend as an action but it does feel like this forum is failing in this regard.

Quickest way to stop it from being an issue is for the president of the United States to stop directly supporting a genocide. Doesn't seem like a big ask. Until then, everything he does or says is tainted by that single evil decision.

Though I find the discomfort surrounding these tactics to be delicious, given it’s how TransERA would interact whenever posters would disagree with them.

Never ceases to amaze me how some people view Biden's support of a genocide as simply a character flaw. Is he better than Trump? In most ways yes. But for a lot of people, the supporting of genocide means nothing else he does matters. And I can't blame them for thinking that.

This thread way moreso. It's literally just a positive and separate issue of discussion and not related at all to the Gaza crisis. There needs to be some nuance of discussion to be had outside of that when discussing the Biden admin.

I've been moving more toward this as I age. I'm kinda a geek with this stuff and it seems activity is incredibly underrated and finally getting more shine in the medical science.

I still eat rather clean, but I don't worry about it as much these days. The research is pretty clear. Activity is king.

TLDR: Current exercise recommendations are 150-300 minutes per week. However, the best results are 300 to 599 minutes per week.

So from 5 hours to 9 hours per week 🤯

One thing to note, is that this is moderate activity. So not high intensity. So even walking counts here.

I personally believe this is biggest issue over the food system alone. But we've also engineered physical activity out environments.
