A lot of members would do well to better their understanding of sexism and all its insidious systemic forms within our favourite hobby (and beyond really). We are not good at identifying it and worse at discussing it. Perhaps worse yet is that many of us are bad at listening and then another large portion fall silent and let things get worse and boil into a bit of a silent boys club feel. I understand being tired of everything but effort is needed and appreciated. If you don't know how to navigate these threads and these feelings. If you fear you might get banned when posting. If you don't understand why evoking your wife who doesn't even play games' opinion is inflammatory. If you feel attacked. If you cannot read past the venting. If nothing I say makes a drop of sense. It might be worth reflecting on this and scheduling some time to try and work out why. No one knows everything. We are all ignorant of everything until we learn.

It almost like is not worth the effort given how RE discussions are driven anlmost entirely by bad faith actors and arguments.

You have assholes like Kyuuji doing a 180 and openly fawning for costumes, and nobody will call her out because they afraid of a ban, not even the Burka brigade.

Stellar Blade goes so far beyond titillation or dogmatically and cynically targeting a certain type of gamer. The sexualisation is so over the top, so brazen, so shameless, that I can only deduce that to dehumanise and objectify women was the point.

This is the thing right, and I'm not at all coming at you specifically, but clearly, the game is reviewing well. I wanted to ensure in my review to dock significant points for the objectifying BS specifically because I knew the industry at large, even if they do mention it as a negative element in their review, would still let it slip by with 8/10's. What lessons do we expect developers to learn if they're not held to account for this stuff? How else do we hold them to account beyond not buying the game I suppose.

Some of EVE's outfits work. Even if they don't make practical sense, they at least dial back the absurdity several notches and she still looks great in them. This proves Shift Up is capable of intricately modelled and tasteful character design, but only as an alternative to the most dehumanising outfits you're likely to ever see in a non-porn video game.

Anytime. We've had good talks in the past and I know we're aligned on most matters of worth. You really broke down the issues with the sexualisation, and the absurd extent to which it's taken, well and in a manner that makes clear most of it isn't needed in making designs (or the game) interesting and attractive. The game is tainted by not just a desire to lean into it, but a seeming need to. Which is the only way I think you could ever end up with something like the skin suit.

Don't have the original quote but it was something like "we are not going to have a thread discussing whether it's okay to use a racist phrase or not"

Which doesn't make sense because hard r is a phrase explicitly used to avoid saying the n word. Saying hard R is literally politically correct. Makes me think what are the chances he didn't know the meaning of hard R either?
