So Nintendo's saying that women don't have courage and shouldn't have power yet the cishets are going to keep gaslighting us all Pride Month. Social Justice Warrior

B-dubs, buddy, you really gotta talk with your man Jawmuncher. It's not even subtle anymore that he's working for LRG

Didn't Ree made a congratulations thread for Jawmuncher taking a spot that they ran someone off from LRG?

Kara Lynne, the former LRG community manager who got fired for supposedly "transphobic" tweets? Interestingly, she's now working for Eric July at Rippaverse Comics, as head of customer relations or something.

I'm sure July makes a lot of people in the industry very uncomfortable. He demonstrated that you can be shunned by the press and mainstream publishers, and still start a successful business in the entertainment industry. He also recently opened a distribution and fulfilment company for independent comics not published by Rippaverse. Lots of "fine, I'll do it myself" energy. And now that he demonstrated that you can make money without bending the knee, some big names in comics openly work with him or follow his example.

I only know that he also made Comicsgate retards uncomfortable because he actually is doing his projects and not in perpetual limbo. Trumps

Part of the implosion with Rekieta and the Anime/ComicsGate grifts.
I would have put my fist through my coffee table over this Zelda gaslighting but 1. I'm weak from all the girl essence I take, 2. I can't take a coffee table, leave a coffee table due to capitalism, colonialism and white supremacy and 3. I shouldn't have to emotionally labor by swinging by the nearest CEO's house to liberate a coffee table that literally only exists because of the suppression of an entire continent. It's like, am I not dismissing white opinions enough?

I'm just so tired.
HOLY SHIT, REKIETA EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! Doge

I don't think July or his circles (Az; Nerdrotic, Mauler and Critical Drinker by proxy) have much to do with Comicsgate or Rekieta. Chuck Dixon works on some Rippaverse stuff, but that seems tangential at best.

The way she was portrayed made her a female character whose entire role is to be somebody's pregnant wife and then die. You've shown before that you're fully capable of writing very good female characters not defined by their relationships to men, which is why I found this extra annoying.

The writing in this game has been extremely good before, even as recently as whispers in the walls, but releasing this during pride month after teasing so much that this was "something really special that shouldn't be spoiled" feels like a slap in the face.

I'm sure a lot of hard work went into this quest, the production value was phenomenal and it sets up some really interesting plot threads I'm looking forward to seeing you expand upon, but I just can't get over how safe and tone deaf the story felt.
Quote:You're far braver than I am - I had been hovering with my mouse over the post button on a very similar new thread.

I'm a cis woman who's married to a trans woman, and you can imagine how much of a slap in the face this felt like for both of us, based on the theories that have been going around. I know there are other female frames, I know it was a theory with no evidence, yada yada yada... But still. God, it feels really bad that they went as cishet as possible for a quest during pride month. I know they donate to LGBT charities, which I'm SO grateful for, of course.

Even disregarding all of that, it feels really bad from a woman's perspective that there's an entirely new Warframe who's entire purpose was to get pregnant and then die for yet another Sad Man Has to Do the Mom Thing and Watch a Baby plot, of which there's already a billion.

Idk. I also really, really hope there's some kind of way to turn off the visuals of the pregnancy on Jade. I don't even usually get squicked out by pregnancy, but just the messaging here is making it me feel a little nauseous at the idea of actually playing her or being in a squad with her.
Quote:very much with you on that, just so not fitting imo. hell, i feel like she should be not pregnant in the playable version. for the quest version (aka npc) its "ok", but that constant reminder of what i will never be able to do, even if i wanted, nope
Quote:Yeah, this was... a miss in perhaps every possible way. I was excited for Jade in concept but I'm not really sure now that I've played the quest and there's the unremovable pregnancy orb. It's so disappointingly heterosexual,

I can't believe the cishets smuggled father's day into pride month as convenient excuse to make videogame quests about someone becoming a father
Just when I thought their meltdowns couldn't get any more pathetic than the one over Stellar Blade, in comes a meltdown over chibi Zelda summoning a table.

Lowkey it's super terminally online behavior.

Zelda has multiple times in the series wielded weapons now....let's examine what is the gameplay focus of this game? I don't think you peeps realize just how ridiculous it is to cry sexism about a lack of traditional weapons, when a trailer includes a woman smasking people twice her size in the face with a boulder, before later showing her wielding a sentient cannon.

The only way they could make Zelda more of a war criminal in this trailer alone, is if she literally had a gun. How do you guys think the game design docs went?

"We need to preserve her princess status, so....no swords because she's a lady and ladies don't use swords especially not Zelda! 😠"

*Gives her the ability to smash people in the face with a boulder*

Like that is bordering on what the kind of parody chuds create when discussing what progressives are concerned about as it pertains to sexism in gaming.

In a world where people are trying to to force "trad wives" and other sexist bullshit, I think it's important. People keep hanging up on the fucking table. It's not JUST the table. I don't care that she can summon things to fight for her, so can Link, so that's not the problem.
I just had to go no contact with o family member who has gone full Chud and gotten deep into this fucking stupid alpha male of the household shit and "women can't do this or that" nonsense.

There is a concerted effort of "influencers" and conservatives in the US forcing a specific imagery of women. And honestly, I find it kind of troublesome that people either don't see the potential issue or are intentionally obfuscating the discussion by jokingly bringing up the table.

If people want to think it was a mistake from Nintendo, fine, but I refuse to be gaslit that it isn't a problem when even other people see it. The amount of corporate defending going on blows my mind.

Why do they always do this and have to announce it to the world. Like honestly, that family member is better off without you, not the other way round

Otherwise they'd miss out on all the backpats from the cult; sure your support system shrinks a bit but, hey! Operating Thetan Level TWO, buddy! Woohoo!

This Zelda bullshit is the perfect illustration of resetera's MO.  They demand media to cater to the underserved and when media complies the perceived quality of the product is directly proportional to the amount of anger it *must* cause the chuds.

It's rarely about representation or upending harmful stereotypes and almost exclusively about propagating grievance and they just got caught red-handed again.
I'm so glad they got their stupid monkey's paw game. They're never fucking happy because that's the point. The only thing that sucks about it is that there's so many of these soy gargling cunts out there that they're ruining franchises left and right with their list of impossible and unending demands.

My Triforce of Power is glowing.

planet smasher wrote:Like I'll be honest, the weapon fusion mechanic in TotK was a novelty at best. It almost never actually made combat easier or better, it was just novel that they let you do things. But 9 times out of 10 it didn't really transform the combat in an appreciable way.

crossing eden wrote:This is lowkey one of the most objectively untrue things you've ever said on this forum because fam....people made war machines. And TOTK's major meme was committing war crimes

TOTK is a ridiculous game if only because way more than half the things that simply function the way they do should be an impossible thing but they work immaculately. It's ok if you specifically didn't do a lot of creative stuff, but to say that it was novelty is objectively ignoring like, the major reason why the game was as big of a hit as it was.

doskoi panda wrote:That might have been your experience, but it couldn't be further from mine, lol. Fusion turned shields into Batman gadgets capable of doing just about anything at a moment's notice, and enabled players to customize weapons and weapon effects pretty substantially. It added a lot of depth and flavor to the game for me. It rose beyond a mere novelty for me the moment I realized that you can do more with the system than fuse rock to stick to make hammer.

planet smasher wrote:For me all I ever really bothered with, weapons-wise, was sticking Construct parts on things to make high-damage weapons. Everything else could be accomplished with arrows or throwing items so there was no point in wasting good weapons by fusing crap to them. Especially because fusing weapons to each other wreaks havoc on their durability if you're not careful.

It's funny watching the in-fighting and how many of them suddenly realize they are surrounded by terminally online nutjobs:

Rest of the Internet: HERE COMES ZELDA WITH THE STEEL CHAIR.

What's even funnier is that these revelations are happening in the context of them getting exactly what they demanded--a major Zelda title (yes, Morrgicunt, 2D Zelda games ARE mainline Zelda titles as well) with Princess Zelda as the main character you control.
But this cannot be. I've made 35398 posts as a woman this year and I don't like furniture unless its for my gundams
Always trust the writers. It’s an amazing mid-season twist that puts the whole board on its head. Previous allies turn on each other and the battle lines are all redrawn.

BioWare should take notes.
