Do users have their post removed in the feedback thread when they're critical? Or do the users just get ignored? I can see they banned that poster for hostility in another thread in retribution (nowhere nears as hostile as a protected member is allowed to be obviously) but what's the aftermath in the feedback thread?

My posts are still up in the thread but nowhere near as scathing as that guy's.

They just get ignored/left for mod stans to support the mods; they don't always get banned. They've been ignoring a question smoebody brought up on Tuesday specifically because mods were active in the thread again. Someone posts a question asking how they can get self-banned; they get a response from AliceAmber, ask a followup question, and get an answer from B-Dubs within fifteen minutes.
The next post in the thread, about a half hour later, is:

As there are now mods posting in this thread again, I wanted to repost my question (shown below) - since the last time I posted it, there have been 2 more direct 'Biden is senile' comments, both of which I have just reported, plus a couple of roundabout comments too (which I haven't). The original one I reported still hasn't been actioned on, whereas all conspiracy theorising was (immediately), so again, I want to check if we are fine with blatant ageism and armchair diagnoses now?

To be very clear, is the moderation level now set to calling Biden 'senile' being OK? In months prior, it was actionable with a ban; recent users who have used such descriptors have been reported by me and despite this, have been left un-actioned. Other reports I have made for conspiracy theorising have been met with near-immediate 2-week bans, so I know that my report tickets have been looked through and evaluated.

So again, I'd like to check, is it just cool and non-actionable to call Biden senile now?

About an hour and a half after that post, the next post in the thread is AliceAmber.... replying to the post B-Dubs had already replied to. No further action in the thread until somebody posts to talk about body shaming, and AliceAmber replies a few hours later to point out the post has been banned. Then another spate of rules/reporting procedural questions, to which AliceAmber responds within a few hours. That's the end of mod posting in the thread, but users have been continuing to tag the issue:

imo the Biden thread needs some sort of guidelines on how to discuss this with a bit more tact. There's a need to discuss what is going on with Biden but users can tend to be very careless about it, maybe due to lack of experience with the things they are trying to diagnose him with.

I don't know what those guidelines look like tbh, also I think it's a minority of users but it does stick out when it occurs

Agreed. Just some clarity would be nice - especially when previous comments on senility were met with bans and now….just aren't.

As someone who has had to experience that with significant others, it's a shame to see how things are now being handled.

As was said, it used to be actionable, but the fact that it now isn't being dealt with, and is being ignored here, speaks volumes about how Moderation think about the matter.

Parkinson's isn't inherently tied to age, and that is now just casually being thrown out here.

Being old doesn't equal being senile and suggesting so is offensive.

Since the mods can't just openly admit that they've now decided the one correct opinion is that Biden is senile and if you have the correct opinion you can say whatever you want, the users will continue to get ignored. Morrigan has posted that she agrees with GulfCoastzilla that it's unfair to ask the mods to mod the discussion or, I guess, state that they've changed the rules but that's about it.

People don’t have that much problem with Biden or Trump age, they have problem with them not being sound of mind. Being old assholes clearly contributed to it, but there is a clear ageist bend to it at RE. In the end, RE doesn’t really care about armchair diagnosis or mocking old people, they care about being called out of it.

I know what you mean, but it sucks to sit on the rollercoaster of "awesome person supports queer community" and then get slapped in the face with something like "they also support the Palestinian genocide". People are wary because they've been hurt.

I'm not sure if it's harder for people to conceal the shitty parts of themselves these days, or if there are more deal breaking issues in the world than there used to be. I really wish we could just enjoy things for what they are, because when I started reading this thread, it was nothing but good vibes. But I don't think it's our fault that we can't just take the W.
