The ad is admittedly arse, but I can't really blame people for not seeing positive usecases for AI. It's pretty advanced and complicated tech with many applications that aren't immediately obvious, or don't work with the AI systems people know. Google isn't going to highlight cool stuff like RAG or document interaction, because you'll probably want to run that shit locally for privacy or bandwidth reasons. I run Llama 3.1, Florence 2 and a bunch of other stuff on my machine and love it. It's search on steroids. I can ask my PC "hey, that offer I submitted to client X a couple years back, what was my hourly rate back then?", and just get the answer. I also use a bunch of image models in editing, for stuff like background removal, touch-ups (inpainting), relighting and what not. And it's obviously very useful when writing code, though I mostly use it to write documentation for me, or have the AI explain code written by somebody else.

I know a guy who made a full stack webapp that takes subscriptions using Sveltekit and Supabase...he doesn't know any code.  All querying the Claude Sonnet 3.5 API.
It's fantastic.

Yeah Milo was thrown in the trash because he talked about pedo stuff on some old podcasts so that's a strange example

He produced an app that earns him money.  People seem to think it's useful.  I thought the anecdote more referred to the ability to expand one's horizons and use their skillset to create something valuable for other people.

It's the opposite of lazy - He is skilled in other areas, which is why he is able to earn a profit from the app.  He brought those skills forth and he didn't have to pay an app developer to do this, he did it himself.

An experienced full-stack webdev can use AI to make much bigger, more sophisticated projects in shorter periods of time.  Everyone wins.
Not saying you are wrong, but the normie impression is contrary, specially because there are assholes that actually don’t have talent in other areas and use AI.

AI is fantastic, literally a new super power.

That is the Nepenthe mentality: complain about people who have the ambition, sense, and gumption to use all available tools and skills to produce something that other people find valuable.  Then, when it earns them money, complain that they had the resources and privilege ahead of time, or complain about the tool itself - when this amazing thing is sitting right in front of everyone to use right now.  And, at no point see the value in the thing produced itself or what it does for other people.  The focus is how you're getting screwed, yet again, because someone else succeeded.  I don't buy these weird moral arguments about how AI is lazy or cheating - if it helps you produce something useful, then use it.  Otherwise, sit at home in your parents house in your 30s, stocking mountain dew at Walgreens, watching Bluey on Discord and complaining about entire groups of people being the cause of all your problems.  Okay, I kind of took a leap there.  But you get it.

To quote the great kamala harris: What can be is what has been unburdened by AI, perchance.  The future is learning how to harness this power, not irrationally railing against it.

It is a mostly useless mechanic but dunno why the need to remove it when they need all the goodwill they can after Dead Rising 4. Yeshrug

Unless they are making a new game, I don’t think people will care for an old ass remnant of 2006 freedom pervert humor. They are just inviting people to get uppity and hyper critical.

I haven't played it since it was first released, but isn't the point that Frank West is a shitty papparazzi who lucks into a real story, so rating all his photos on the TMZ scale is part of the satire?

Uh excuse me, Frank West has covered wars. Show some respect please  Thank you for your service!
I already bought Dead Rising twice. Don't need to get it a third time, as the last version I bought has 60fps and looks alright.

Nobody understood that that whole thing had to do with the fact that ownership changed and the old Warner ownership marked up the value of stuff and the new owners said "no, this is worthless" but the previous owners already took tax credits on it. They had to destroy the stuff or pay for it. Either that or commit accounting fraud. They were always mad at the wrong people.

The summary as I understand it is that the methodology was the big issue highlighted (poor sourcing/support on key findings, circular references between limited research bodies). I read through the Scientific American article, and Cal Horton at least is basically making her point for her...all of the studies I clicked through have his name on them, lol.
No, the findings were ideological. Because what it was contesting was the ideological conclusions of the "science" which didn't do any science to reach its conclusions. By adhering to the scientific process Cass was making an ideological claim that science is more valid than lived experience. You can see this if you read trans sources, especially like Erin Reed's "journalism", where the complaint is laid out. The problem with Cass was that she held the science to an actual scientific and medical standard and this is illegitimate. Trans science is supposed to be judged as always good because people want it.

Now why would she say that?  Let's see what she's responding to
Quote:I've seen some discussion on whether or not this character design is considered sexualized in the typical sense or not. She is obviously showing some skin and the sides of her breasts so that ticks off some of the boxes on the bingo card. Some have said that it's fanservice but they don't necessarily find it sexy while others have said she has some masculine traits and that the design is more akin to men wearing a coat without an undershirt.
No wonder she posted a horny post.  Also, how long has she's been on break?
I like that post because the sentence in the aside clearly means they'll be disappointed if they're Indigenous but you can also read it as saying they'll have an orgasm if the character is Indigenous.

Let's also appreciate the judging (presumably from a white person) on whether or not someone looks appropriately Indigenous enough to "count" (even though there is no such universal Indigenous appearance) and how this affects the value of the character existing to them.
This is why ResetEra hates AI
