There's a huge shitstorm going on at Bluesky right now because people were signing up to Bluesky with racist slurs in their user names -- it allowed the n word complete with hard R as a username for example. People pointed out that not even Truth Social allowed usernames to contain words like that.

The entire "what's hot" feed is complaints about this, and the Bluesky team remained silent all day and finally issued a statement:

But they're getting heat for this statement too because it was actually a Bluesky community user (larkenciel.bsky.social) that submitted a patch as a bandaid fix, all they did was hit the merge button on GitHub and seemingly took credit for her work. I went to school and discovered that everyone hated me because I was miserable. I wasn't good at sports so people thought I was girly and girls didn't like me.
