Do they not realize Japan is extremely conservative? Like I'm not excusing any homophobia or any of that shit, it's awful, but it is a thing in many developed countries still nowadays. Hopefully it gets better in the future, but probably won't for quite awhile.

When B-Dubs and Nep got into their little catfight about voting, B-Dubs went back and deleted his initial harsh post. IrishNinja for...some reason...decided to describe the now-deleted post as having some quality of sexual/misogynist violence involved. 

Other posters then just picked that up (either taking Irish at his word, or maybe being alts?) and keep reiterating it.  More recently another poster tried to draw a direct comparison B-Dubs to Evilore for abusing female staff.

I don't have B-Dubs original post but it's been linked a few times. It's the usual self-righteous Era-style argumentation you've seen infinity billion times by now (fuck all the way off, you need to hold that, blah blah)...extremely unremarkable.

Knowing how fucking stupid B-Dumbs is, they will gaslight him into thinking he said something fucked up.

Antisemitic is one of those words that has just completely lost its meaning.

I can't think of any other marginalized group in progressive spaces where it's deemed acceptable for outsiders to define and diminish the oppression faced by the group itself. While I agree that the term 'antisemitism' has at times been misused to unjustly defend Israel, for non-Jews to completely dismiss the term—especially in the way I've seen repeatedly on this forum and in progressive spaces long before the current conflict—is deeply problematic. This is even more concerning at a time when contemporary antisemitism is at an all-time high.

Granted, I think the label's reputation has changed a lot for the better. With cosplay, convention, and nerd culture becoming so mainstream, Furry is far less divorced as a fetish subculture and is probably looked onto more now as a weird hobby on par with anime cosplay. It also helps that the age, gender, racial, and occupational demographics are so ridiculously widespread and have blown up tremendously since the 90s where it practically was an underground subculture dominated mainly by sexual minorities (who in turn are being more and more accepted with LGBT rights being a political hot topic lately). Couple that with social media, and you have more people understanding what Furry is as a hobby, more older people and parents being accepting of it as a hobby, and subsequently the secret underground party that it was in the 80s and 90s is over (and I hear a lot of greymuzzles tend to be pissed about that). It won't ever become mainstream like, say, video gaming, but right now is the absolute best time to be into it. I almost envy Furry teenagers now. xP

Anyhoo, just came back from the SCAD furmeet (we meet every Thursday at 5, so if, like, anyone else on this forum is ever in the metro Atlanta area and a furry, come join the gang) and I'm wiped. I partialed for the entire time, so around for six hours, and as usual the security and staff got a laugh out of it. They even know my outfit at this point so I don't have to flash ID anymore. Aside from us shooting the shit, watching awful videos, and interacting with me, I did some gift art of a wild dog for an elementary school friend, mainly with copics and Prismacolors that she was happy to let me borrow. A shame I forgot to get a decent picture of it before heading out. It was pretty good. <<;;

As a Jew who is literally from the neighborhood this happened in, I'm going to kindly tell you to fuck off with this type of thing in this instance. This is antisemitism plain and simple. Israel doesn't represent all Jewish people, and what they're doing is obviously awful, but we all know the association exists whether it should or not and that bad actors can and have used it to justify attacks on Jewish people. Trying to obfuscate makes you the asshole here, and pretending that acknowledging this association exists is the actual antisemitic thing is gross, and dare I say it, antisemitic, on so many levels. Maybe start having some introspection about yourself instead of talking down to Jews about antisemitism.

Realistically, if someone put a billboard that said "Death to Hamas", especially in a neighborhood with a prominent muslim population, you'd be rightfully calling it out as a way to justify the killing of palestinians. And you'd be rightfully calling out people defending it by pointing out that Hamas doesn't represent all palestinians, because while true, that's clearly a bad faith arguement that ignores a wider context of cultural associations.
